There are no words for this. None that fit, none that work, none that explains. But what it is worth, my very greatest condolences for you, your brother, and above all his children.

Words of comfot will mean little at present, but we all share your pain to an extent.

Deepest condolences to all involved

So sorry.

I can never understand why, as a society, we seem so unbothered about road safety, so many of these deaths are preventable or avoidable.

Words cannot describe the feeling that you get when this happens. I'm very sorry for your loss and I hope the best for your brother and his family.

Oh Chris, I am so sorry. My heartfelt condolences to you and your family. If there's anything I can do let me know.

A sad reminder that the ones we love can be taken away at any moment. Be strong for your brother.

I've spent a day looking for words to comfort you in this time of loss. My poor self can find no great words to put you at ease. This is a burden, a most unfair burden on your family.

But, you have a very extended family here that understands that loss and pain and is very willing to listen if you need an ear or a shoulder.

Time will make it easier, but never make it easy.

On my way

Leaving for Orlando with my sister shortly

Thank you all for your words and thoughts of strength, concern and support.
They bolster for me for a very difficult 4 days.

My wife and I are hosting a big Super Bowl party the day after I return.
No matter how this game turns out, it will always remind me of this time.

I was sub teaching at my favorite district when I got the call.
I was having the best teaching day of my new career.
That day, that school will also always be a part of all this.

So will this thread and your helpful comfort.

Such are the strange and random connections we make in this life.

Hold your loved ones a little tighter today.

Chris

I'm back

Returned last night from Orlando.
Grateful to have missed the snow here in NJ that dumped on DC and Philly.

It was brutal, but uplifting in it's own way.

Kate made a friend of every person she met.
Not one person I met could think of anyone who didn't like her.
Her heart broke for every child abused, neglected or unloved.
Over 400 people came to her wake. Much of the sadness was left there.
Her funeral on Friday was an uplifting celebration of a life well lived.
My oldest brother, a Catholic priest, did an inspirational job though his own heart is broken.

Her 3 children are crushed.

My brother was a tower of strength for his kids, his extended family and for his wife's.

They were married for 25 years as of Jan 19th.
They were the rare couple who were truly happy, knew it and didn't take it for granted.

He promised her when he proposed that he would hold her gently in his hands
like one would hold a baby bird; that he would never drop her and he would never crush her.
He kept that promise and he holds her even now.

On that same day, she promised she would love him every hour of every day for the rest of her life.
She kept that promise.

Cherish every day.
Give all of who you are to those you love.

Thanks again...from all of my family...for your kindness, compassion and prayers.
I know in my heart she has felt this and is thankful for it.
