No, but it is where 2+2=4 constitutes one of the more challenging assignments for the semester, at least it was in my college. I distinctively recall my advisor calling me a chicken as he signed my classload for the semester with that course on it.

actually

at least for me...its

\"real world applications\"

its like statistics, probablity stuff like that

not as hard as algebra, not as easy as highschool math

which is good for those of us who are really really terriable at algebra.

That\'s the theoretical rationale for such courses. But of course it affects the prospects when lots of people are taking it who also say that it\'s good for them because they\'re terrible at Algebra. Is it also a short cut through the requirements?

...oh Hell, who cares. Congrats on getting through the semester. Go paint a mini.

puuuuuck, puck-puck-puck... puuuuuuck, puck-puck ;)

I presume you mean linear algebra, Becca? It\'s just plain weird until you actually use it. That\'s when it all makes sense and becomes easy. Truly, it\'s calculus that most are, and should be, afraid of.

allllllll algebra.
i get lost at

2x+4=14

not really but you get the point

i passed Algebra 2 in highschool by 2 points. and i actually had to get mama to go in and tell the administration that i was happy with a \"d\" and would not be taking it again

and liberal arts math is hard for me too. but at least i passed this one with a \"b\".

and actually tonights D&D night, not paint a mini night, so i\'ll be playing. not painting ;)

and its not a short cut though the requirements, its a legimate class, and one of the maths offered to complete your requirements.

for those people majoring in types of \"liberal arts\" you can take that math class. For those people not majoring in liberal arts majors, you have to take college algebra. :)

The point, if I\'m not mistaken, is to ensure that your liberal arts grads have some basic math skills, but not fail them all because they are not mathematical geniuses as well as literary/historical/political ones. My \"physics for biologists\" course in first year was along those lines...

What are you studying again, IPM?

But why \"liberal arts\"?
I always thought (and after working for a college, still do) liberal arts were useless skills like air guitar, basket weaving, philosophy, you know the kind of degrees that are virtually useless in the real world.

So the name \"liberal arts\" math seems like a contridiction.

i\'m studying a plethora of things actually

double majoring in
~secondary social science education
~humanities

and minoring in Theatre

then getting my masters in Humanities.

I eventually want to teach college, or highschool with Dual Credit and AP classes with the drama program.

so useless is definatly a point of view.

Ahh, the old I\'m a professional student degree plan.

Course, I\'ve got two degrees, enought hours for a third, and will be going back for my BFA and MFA after I\'m done over here.

So, I\'m a pro student at best as well. :D

Yeah, the important thing, and what a student must remember to do above all is

NEVER GRADUATE!

Just keep adding extra majors and minors, and don\'t even be fooled by the notion that grad school is still school. It\'s different, I tell ya.

i hear ya NSA... i had to take two \"Chemistry for Engineers\" classes when i was in college. i hated those classes the most because the professor didn\'t like engineers so she was all but useless to us at office hours:mad: Yeah, i got over wanting to be an engineer purdy dang quick.

Never mind me, Becca. perhaps I\'m just smarting over my recent results. Passing is easy, but I do expect better from myself. :( Yeah... I started doing a BSc in maths and applied maths after I felt my previous maths education was inadequate for my purposes.
