This is the one where they ask a bunch of Americans where they should attack next and then have them point them out on the map. The countries on the map are deliberatly labelled wrong but most people cant even get the continent right.

This was posted here a few months ago.

My responce: We\'re screwed

Well, I figure we must have some smart people here; we are the richest, strongest country in the world, after all, by far, and I don\'t think it was an accident (even though I\'m sure that pisses off some Canadians and Europeans). By the way, I\'m not denegrating any other countries here, only defending mine (and speaking a quantifiable truth), so lets keep the flames to a minimum.

This was done many many years ago on a very c00l Australian comedy show called CNNNN. This show basically t00k the pi$$ out of CNN news. Very, very funny stuff!

I remember seeing this and quite frankly being disturbed by it. I guess when your gov\'t feeds you the notion that your country is placed at the centre of the universe you don\'t need to bother learning about other places in the world and where they are on the world map. Just bomb \'em hey.
Good for the US economy...

@CaptNarcissico: ( Hope this does not come through as flaming.)
Corruption and abuse led the USA to where they are now, and it\'s what really holding them back now. And that you would be soooooo rich and advanced is a lie fed by the same ass-media that want you folks to believe you\'re the center of the universe and that the rest of the world should be bombed. And for a lot in the masses this lie totally works.
You should read a few book that has not been written in USA once in a while.

> \" The great masses of the people will more easily fall victim to a BIG lie than to a small one.\"
A. Hitler, Mein Kampf

A thruth that has been carried thorough the ages, sadly; I can only give much respect to those who don\'t fall victim to the lies.

Sorry about that y\'all

@Tony: Italian army sure kicked ass, back in the medieval time. Those we\'re REAL battles back then...lol

I obviously disagree that everything they teach all 330 million Americans is a lie. I do believe that people should be cynical about what they are told though (that includes books that Green One is reading). I certainly am. I am to some degree cynical about everything I see on the news and am told by my government. But I am cynical about what I see and am told by any other government as well (or orginization or individual for that matter), including ones not in the U.S. In my opinion, that\'s all anyone can do.

I certainly love my country, and sometimes I disagree with what it does, but conversly, I do actually agree with what it does alot of the time too. I do believe we should listen to the rest of the world, but whose to say what they say is correct either. To be honest, only history tells what was right, and sometimes history is written wrong too. The U.S. (or any other country), can only do what it thinks is right at the time. Hindsight is 20/20.

Now, for what I said before: the U.S. GDP, which is the best indicator of the size of an economy (and to some degree strength), is about 12.5 trillion dollars, and we have 330 million people here, and a growing economy. The next biggest is China, with a GDP of about 7 trillion dollars, and they have 1.3 billion people there (alot less money for 4 times the people). The entire EUs GDP is about 12 trillion, and Canada\'s is a little over 1 trillion. These numbers could be a little off, but are basically correct, and are freely available, and not just put out by the U.S., but are internationally verifiable. There are other types of strength as well. The U.S. military budget for 2005 was about 400 billion dollars, while Russia with the next largest was about 65 billion. Certainly there are other strengths, such as culture, etc.. but they cannot really be quantified. Basically the point is, what I said earlier is verifiable, and not just \"American Lies\".

Some people may not care about America bashing, and I don\'t either usually (I just attribute it to difference of opinion, jealousy, or ignorance, or all three sometimes). Sometimes though I just get a little sick of it, and want to defend my country. Just like many other people around the world probably do, I think my country is not perfect, but it is the best in the world, and don\'t like hearing it insulted constantly without anyone coming to it\'s defense or the defense of it\'s people. I look at the U.S. not only as the government, but the people as well.

Anyway that\'s all I have to say about it. I think it\'s kind of stupid to argue back and forth about politics, religion, etc.. over the internet, when I don\'t know the backround or education level of who I\'m talking to.

Sorry for the rant, hope I haven\'t angered anyone.:)

@Capt: Your avatar looks angry so you kinda sound angry... :p
I don\'t think there is a point arguing about that either, and as far as I\'m concerned, the american people I now are nice people. With most of them tough, I agree about the terrible, terrible mistakes of the past few years ( A certain \"war\" for example :( ).
Culture and emancipation ( Real one, I mean.) are not quantifiable, but part of a countries \"strenght\" just as much as national productand military might.

What would you say is a verifiable \"real\" culture Green One? All over the world, people are imitating Americans, not Canadians, not the French, not the English, not Russians, nor Chinese.

The Indians I work with all want to come to America - even with the problems we have, people still want to leave where they are at and travel to the States for a better life. Sure, they get disillusioned along the way, but they stay and work to make things better by and large.

And by the way, look at this from another angle - If someone were making coments about the Quebecouis being of sub par intellegence, or not being \"cultural\" enough what would you do?

Americans have a lot of problems, and we aint perfect but I haven\'t seen one of my fellow countrymen making some of the sly attacks at your homeland that you have made at ours.

Well we swedes are just plain boring. And PC. Always Politically correct. We don\'t express emotions very well as well. Plus that no one is poor here. We are allways neutral and never take a stand in important issues without being absolutely sure that it can\'t give rise to any negative emotions at all. We have a good amount of Lutheran workmoral which means that we are an ideal country for capitalism to grow. Criminals are never evil they are just betrayed by the society. We are all blond and tall. There\'s a lot of polarbears walking around.. in fact I\'m watching one right now helping an old blind lady across the street. Basically we have the same uses for polarbears as other people have for dogs. And once I wrestled a moose and gutted him with my pocketknife. And then the state came and distributed all the meat amongs the not-so-poor in equal slices. We all rejoiced. What a lovely day it was.

@SteelCult: I don\'t identify \'pop\' as culture personaly. Imitation is not \'culture\' either.
And culturally, Quebec is in a bog, as much as the rest of Canada and the states,
and it sucks, but I don\'t think this is the place to talk about Quebec, anyway.
There are some countries that think for themselves and are really moving things right now, and the occident is falling behind on every aspect besides military, this is a truth and it\'s pretty sad most people are too blinded by \'pop\', \'ass-media\' and hollywood \'movies\' to see it.
We\'re cows watching the train pass by...
