Haha some funny comments there,Thanks guys.
She is so cute, I have lost both my little fingers now (2 little girls). Emilia is her name DR :)

So I have been able to sneak a few slots of playing while doing what ever needs to be done, as soon as I twist a cap of a paint bottle I need so do something.

So I have massacred a space marine for a conversion and mash up. I follow Thor Modelling studio and quite liked his Imperial fist mini so did some research on all things IF, looked at Volomirs one also. thats the fuel for this Sean Connery 'look a like'.

In my research I have discovered modifying miniatures is called Miniature Conversion. Pinned the joints that I have cut, green stuffed the angles that I'm happy with and left it to set.

I also put a magnet in his torso and waist so I could see how he looks with out going blue tack mad.

I have a fair amount of trouble getting the stance looking good, I had to widen it so it was equal to his shoulder as it was looking a bit out before. I've raided the Sean Connery head head from another kit, will need some TLC as there is a tiny mould line down the right side of his face. I will have to sand off the button on his left forarm too and fill the grooves, they dont look good there.

I'm really starting to think about a banner for him to hold rather than the gun?

Space Wolf Rune Priest Update

The base is sitting beside my PC egging me to do something so I did one last highlight, I think it looks a lot better now. More magical.

Happy Painting :)

Hi guys, I have had an hour or so each night to do what ever, Im addicted to getting the scene right for the imperial fist dude. My Brother dropped off some genesteallers from the battle of macragge box set which my Sister's partner has given me, So stoked about that. I have started chopping 1 of them up and think I only have room for 1, They are quite big.

So after putting a base together I decided it looked too static and cut the mound off and decided I would look up some scoria and squeeze some brain juice for a dynamic looking rock. I made the cork smaller and removed some of it totally so the finished piece will be a similar size to the cork.

after thinking about it all day while on Daddy duties I had this idea.

I think it looks much better, slightly positioned diagonally from the top view to creat some depth also.

I was going to make it removable but my goal is to improve my painting skills not really use them for gaming. So I was going to put the base lower now Im just going to glue it to the wooden base.

Lovely composition, but I like the sketch where it connects in a solid manner to the base rather than a pedestal type cliff. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for the complement, I have been working on it for a while over a few different mini's. This one is really starting to look much better than the others :)
I hope to post the sculpted base for the SM IF later today.

Dont speak too soon Zab, Im marginally happy with the NMM its better than I have done before but I think I have too much dark and not enough medium and highlight?
I went back over the white/yellow with yellow to try and get some base yellow back and smooth it out, maybe more white mix now?
I should finish the rest of the mini to get an idea of the final result but some help would be appreciated on the ballance.

It looks better on the left pick which was before I went over it with a yellow glaze . . real life and camera look so different sometimes.
I did make a mistake of trying to be too fast and not thinning my paint enough, My fault, I was getting withdrawal symptoms had to get some painting done between baby naps.

I am plus one for at least getting every thing close to done before you finish the NMM. I think I have the best luck with gold NMM when I shade brown up through orange with a final highlight of yellow. Then I go back and add pure white to the yellow. So you end up with very little yellow.

After you get everything with some paint on it you might realize you can do a neat glaze of reflected color or find that the NMM is less crucial to your PJ.

I was a little confused by your base post. I feel like SM Sean was a little off balance looking on the cork. I really liked the moon rock sample! And the pocked base looked cool to me.

Demi, I covered the cork with milliput for the general shape, so I didnt need so much putty. Thanks for the heads up, I will finish the rest before I do more nmm.

Hmm, I like the contrast on the first, but if you push it more on the right you'll have an almost polished brass look. Agreed, best finish everything else up first to see which way to push the gold.

Ooooh. I see. Looks good! :)

On the NMM I think i like the darker one a little better but really splitting hairs. The issue I have is the neck and shoulder bits look a little muddled. I am having a hard time telling where the light is coming from and I thinks there should be a big shadow in there somewhere. I think you should NMM the lobster tail thingy on his left shoulder because I bet it will be fairly straight forward and it will make it easier for the eye to understand what's going on with that really complicated shoulder bit on the other side.

Are you going to NMM all the armor??? I think you are on the right track if so. Some blue and red reflections in the armor will look great! Go take a look at AndyG's latest.

Hi guys. Had a great time at Meg Maples master class, 2 brush blending is epic found I know so little . . had a few brain explosions. now must find time to finish minis to start new ones to practice, Emilia is 5 weeks old and evening shift is my job so IF I can settle her before a crazy time I get to do some painting. . its not been that successful.
Any way who wants to read when you can look at pics.

Done the spear 1st step next add some lava styles. work on the horns got some good results with some glazing, seems a bit dull though.
