Im pleased you like them, Yeah its almost too shiny But I like it like that and thats as far as I will go for the Chaplain. The shield has had some more progress and Im unsure if it needs some blues washed over the top or something to make it a bit more together. maybe some like weathering streaks or something your ideas are needed!

After looking around at other shields, it needs another layer of BAM grime and Maybe a touch of blood. . .

LILOLOL YEASIR GIVE IT A GOOD BLAST!!!! both are extremely well painted. Technique , color choices, placement , contrast all grade A+ across the scoreboard !!! Keep it up and keep her steady these are both going to be some of your best. I can tell already. The fires there!!!

Thanks for the comments some of the other guys pointed out a few things that could be improved, like the dragon black on the wood would be bare wood if the blue was worn off, and it needs some more damage like I expected, and a good tip adding some grey to the wood to make it look a bit more weathered so I will do that on the inside too.

Yep Im defiantly got the grove, I have been invigorated buy the expo this weekend gone. MNeet some great people, and people I had meet earlier in my life and have invited me to come make models with them, they make tanks and planes etc So Im sure we can share some techniques!

I will have to enter next year as there where some awesome entries from Gavin who I meet at megs class years ago. Some of the other pieces were good but not at the level below. This is a piece that looks AMAZING in real life!!

That would be awesome, for people like me far away from that expo. Thanks in advance ^^
Also... every time I see this boadicca sculpt/paintwork I think I'm in love... I like it so much! I will definitely buy her at some point.

the expo

update on the shield, painted the inside and I think its about right for the shadow, I fixed up some of the mistakes on the back and added a few more slashes, a couple green/blue glazes over the top. no weathering yet, I think I want to do that later and see how the rest of him develops(but it will happen!)

I tried to make it a little less saturated and dull.

a few more scratches and less black over the wood, a little more wood grain showing.

Happy painting!

Ok so this shield thingie is just ROCKIN . Can can does it again. Doesn’t paint for a year ,comes back a talented sculptor ,and wins a comp with a perfect score.paints up perfect freehand...etc I just don’t get it. I have to paint 24 hours a day to keep shape...
:-/
As for the shield the only thing I might have added if I had done this is a bit of edge highliting on the panels .they have that lil space between them brush should be able to get in there. But the freehand ,the colors ,the weathering are all perfectly achieved. I’m a bit envious as now I want to paint one. Great job bud.great job once again.

Shapeways arrived

all the base toppers have arrived!
there are bigger pics here

The detail is fantastic and now I need to clean up the wax residue and give them a light primer there are some tiny layers on them which I think the surface primer will take care of. then I can mold and cast them :)
