I usually don\'t vocalise about my finished minis, but since the subject of \"rescuing minis\" was discussed in this thread, here\'s how my Captain Vrachov turned out after a strip session and some repaint :

Thanks Tim :)!

I checked for the eyes, I think it migt be the gloss varnish I put on them and on the lips that\'s doing that to the pic :p.

Cool! :) Very nice gritty style, the NMM came out very good as well. I agree about the eyes though, it looks a bit like the irises are too small or the whites are too big. Such things can really show up on pictures if you add much light... could be the gloss varnish too as you say, that a part of the iris is washed out by a reflection. LOVE the base!

I like what you\'ve done here, but what\'s with his pose? Sheesh lol
*) Fashion victim interpretation : he saw a war reporter on the battle field so he tried to take a \"I\'m coming to save you\" pose to impress the girls back home :p.
*) Fluff interpretation : he heard an enemy from behind, so he\'s twisting around to save his red-ass for the good of the Mother Land (yes, communists can have their individualistic moments ;)).

If you think he\'s going to fall, the camera angle is simply playing tricks (or did I miss something?).

It\'s that front shot that makes it look slightly robotic or perhaps like a mannequin. It\'s a shame, because the more I look at it the more I like the paint job. It\'s only a minor glitch though, and probably a personal thing. Good work!

to me it looks like he is running in one direction and he has just noticed someone shooting at him from the side! the look on his face, to me, says \'i help yo..oh shit!\'

OK, I understand better your point ;). In that case it\'s entirely my fault since the mini comes in several pieces (head, arms, torso, lower body, knife, and grenades).

I was going for what Tim described, but the robot poses does come out now that you mention it :p.

Have we had many \"caption it\" minis?

\"Mike was shocked when that pop-up invaded his screen and thought it was time to take action.\"

@Wombat85 : Here are the Citadel colors I use for NMM :

I start with a base coat of Fenris Grey.

I then do the shades with Scorched Brown, and if needed I\'ll darken the final spots with a mix of Scorched Brown and Chaos Black (or Charadon Granite if I want something less extreme).

I then start equalizing the mid-colors with Shadow Grey.

Highlighting is done with Space Wolf Grey and then Skull White. I\'ve been testing Astronomican Grey as a mid-highlight colors lately and I think it\'s something to test more in the futur.

I still need to work on how I place my \"lights\", but high contrast is an important factor to make the effect work.

Also, depending on how reflective you want your metal to be, you might want to add more browns and greens in the shades (it\'s not as marked as SENMM but it\'ll get that extra \"realness\" into your mini).

For scratches and dents, I do them at the end by using a simplified technic of what I explained above.

I hope that helps ;).
