Carl\'s Jr? In-N-Out? Fatburger?

I\'ve never been to a fatburger, but there has been an in-n-out here in our little town since before rotten ronnies ever thought of expanding their empire. With In-n-out being so few and far between, I thought that ours was just mom and pop burger joint, which it is, and not a chain, which it also is. I love that they use real spuds, honest to goodness icecream, and you can get a burger that has a huge chunk of pig on it. Nice.

You guys are making me wish I lived on the oposite side of this fine country.
The only thing I see State side here is White Castle, Rally\'s, McD\'s and Rotten Ronnies. I\'ve been to Red Robin but I don\'t think of them as fast food.
Locally on my side of the river there are three places for great bugers. The first is Bubi\'s Awesome Eats, where you can get your meal for free if you can finish the Hindenburger. Just did a google, seems they replaced the Hindenburger with a new 8 lbs burger. http://www.bubis.org/bigger.html
The next place is The Rack and Roll Club. This is a mix of restaraunt and sports bar that on Wednesday\'s have $1.50 burgers that are better and cheaper then anything I can make on the BBQ. They charge per topping, but I can still get a burger with Mozzarella, Chedder and Bacon for $3.00 and it\'s damned good.
The last is a small restaruant out in the small town of Kingsville. The name escapes me right now, but it\'s a small family owned place where the Hamburger comes with Ham, a nice 1/4lbs hamsteak on top of 1/4lbs of angus ground. It\'s amazing.
Lastly there is Ted Farron\'s Gourmet Butcher shop, not included in the 3 above, as you don\'t get a burger there, but you get the best tasting pre-spiced ground for making your own.

In LA there is a sort of franchise/chain of charbroilers. The one near me was \"Steve\'s Charbroiler;\" the next town over had \"Danny\'s Charbroiler.\" They all have a different owner\'s name, but they do the same amazing things with beef, potatoes and grease.
The only restaurant I\'ve seen that gets close is in-n-out, mostly because they both use real cheese on their stuff.

As a Corpus Christi native, I have to second Whataburger.
Of the 3 choices, I would probably go with I&O for overall mass appeal.
The Hardee\'s Monster Burger deserves honorable mention.
I had a great \"gourmet\" burger recently at DeluxBurger, which I believe originated in California.
Meat is good.

I don\'t know any of those. I do vote for In-N-Out burger though not that I have ever tried one, but because they mention it on The Big Lebowski film....

Although I also have fondness for A&W.
In & Out FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oddly, I don\'t like their fries (I almost get lynched when I mention that in some social circles), their shakes, or even the buns they use. But, I LOOOOOVE their burgers. \"Animal, Protein Style\" is the messiest burger without chili on it that you are likely to ever eat, but damn!!! it\'s good. When I\'m feeling more carnivorous, the Flying Dutchman has enough meet that I don\'t notice the bun. If you get a chance to see someone try to eat a 10x or 15x for the first time, it\'s worth waiting around to point a laugh at the faces they make while trying to keep that much meat and cheese down. (at I&O you can order a \"<pick a number> by\" and it\'s that number o\' meat patties by that number o\' slices of cheese)(any of the previous \"secret menu\" items I can\'t tell you about or I would have to kill you.... or something. If you\'re visiting SoCal let us know and I\'m sure one of us can make some time to take you by one).
As for the more stereotypical fast-food joints, Carl\'s Jr. is very good. For burger restaurants, Red Robin is a good chain; If you can find a <insert male first name>\'s Charbroiler (we have a Duke\'s and a couple of Bob\'s here in OC) they are very worth the time and money (not a lot of money either). If you are blessed to have a Fudruckers near you, GO THERE!!!!! they\'re GOOD. Or if no other reason than the novelty of having a buffalo or ostrich burger, both of which or pretty damned good! : ) Now if they could just make burgers out of endangered species. ; )
As for the more stereotypical fast-food joints, Carl\'s Jr. is very good. And if you have strong arteries, Jack in the Box has an Ultimate bacon cheese burger that is AMAZING (4 or so strips of bacon and bacon bits with two types o\' cheese on a bunch of meat and a tasty bun). If I order it, I normally order it with extra cheese and extra bacon (but I only get one very rarely). Also they have good eggrolls and tacos that are very good, but with an unsettling texture (they\'re just deep fried weirdness).
And finally, I have to give props to the guys in our cafeteria here at work.... they make a VERY GOOD burger. The blue cheese and bacon burgers are amazing.

That sounds somewhat like The Baconator from Wendy\'s, Three all beef paties, 6 slices of Cheese and 6 strips of bacon. They are good but I try not to get them that often as I am in bad enough shape already, I don\'t need the help. The best thing at Wendy\'s though is the JR. Bacon Cheeseburger as they are pretty much the cheapest meal you will find around here that still tastes pretty decent.
