lol

Yeah shows the maturity level of most people involved eh?

Says a bloke dressed like Robin Hood? Because THAT\'S mature lol.

Cripes!

I go away for a few days to finish up my senior project, and come back to a freaking schoolyard whining match.

(Sorry to \"feed the beast\", but after reading the relevant threads, I just have to speak my mind.)

First, yes, Big Mean Elf got his butt banned from the forums for less than Alexi is currently getting away with. Now, why this is I\'m not sure; perhaps overall the forums have just become more tolerant, or perhaps there is definitely some bias against big biker dudes and for blonde girls.

Second, I don\'t give a rats ass about the Golden Demons. While some see those competitions as the \"holy grail\" of miniature painting contests, I see them as yet another money-grubbing action by GW, and because of the exclusivity of the locations of said events, they\'re hardly really \"open to all\". So, you can take your Golden (or Silver or Bronze or Tin) Demon and shove it. All it really shows is that you have enough money to travel or live near enough to a select few places to be able to get to the show. Yes, most demon-winning pieces are great models; I\'ve seen some models that haven\'t been anywhere near Games Days or whatever the damn competition is that are better than some of the winners of demons that I\'ve seen.

Do you think that the judges of the Demons would have acted any different in disqualifying a model that didn\'t follow the rules? Not bloody likely--if they knew about it (I vaguely remember an issue with some kid buying a model from one of the CMONers a couple of years ago, and getting busted on it and having his trophy revoked).

Personally, I come to this site (and get interested in things like CCV) for the comaraderie of the folks here and to learn how to be a better painter. Not for some popularity contest.

And, to those of you that do come here to \"pimp\" your wares and make this place a popularity contest, all I can say is that with me, regardless of whether you\'re a big biker dude or cute girl, you are anything but popular.

(And now I slam a good three shots of Captain Morgan... ;) )

Valander,
what is tweening, btw?:D

Thanks for asking, I could use a drink... lol

The original topic was from Jason mentioning some problems with web connectivity to the CCV page. Looks like he got it dealt with, though, since I just checked and the pages seem to be loading.

The individual Games Workshop stores typically have local competitions, but if you want to compete regionally or nationally, chances are very good that you will have to travel. This is no different than any other type of non-online competition, particularly with sports. With the stores handling local level contests and the Golden Demons being placed in population or regional centers, they\'ve done a fair job of event availability.

How else would you have them do it, short of a major competition in every city?

I don\'t see the Golden Demons as the \"Holy Grail\" of competition, but I do find myself hard pressed to think of a contest that gets the same sort of coverage and attention. Maybe Rackham\'s or Reaper\'s competitions will grow to challenge the Demons one year, which would certainly be wonderful -- right now, you can\'t compete in those unless you can afford to fly to France or Texas, respectively, so those are at the moment more exclusive than the Golden Demons! ;)

In any case, you can treat a competition only so seriously. I am no GW fan boy by any means, but I really enjoy the Golden Demons, whether I\'ve entered or not. They force people to push their creativity, there\'s excellent coverage, and it\'s great fun to see how unique the entries are. And that\'s far more important than lording a trophy or three over someone else.

Anyway, I suspect we\'ll just agree to disagree on it, but I felt your view was a little on the unfair side. :)

Here is one request to KEEP this thread goinglollollol
Ooo, oo, I know, now tell her she is padding up her posts by trying to insite a riot. Not. Now I understand if you are doing it to stir up trubs, its jolly good fun, but if you are serious... give us all a break. There has been plenty of flaming going both directions. The first poster guy has even dropped out of this has he not.

Now back to the fight ...FIGHT--FIGHT!!!!lol

Much better indeed than talking about how much brown goes into dark brown:rolleyes: This is the anything goes section so stay outta the kitchen if you can\'t take the heat- even if most of it is all in jest.
But, think about the the children, stop for their sake. Hide your eyes kids.

Steps to corner of ring, tags partners hand and steps through the ropes to get a steel chair... welocme to Stampede Wreslin\' lollollol

Oh p.s.- I am being ironic:rolleyes:

I think perhaps it is because alexi is being relentlessly flamed by \"the pack\" and still managing to take it with good humour, something that a lot of the @$$holes dishing out the insults are clearly lacking (I\'m not directing this statement at you btw, just providing a possible answer to your question).

BME got banned because he blatantly ignored warning after warning etc, etc and was even given a probation period which he then fucked up. Alexi has not even come close to that yet...yet...

Personally I couldn\'t give a rat\'s arse about Alexi\'s appearance... but I do know she is one of the best painters on the site and inspires many... I don\'t like her attacks on members of this community (Because I occasionally have to be a moderator of this community) and feel that she should keep these off site, but other than that, more power to her (painting) elbow:D

To paraphrase what someone else said earlier...it\'s toy soldiers you know????

EDIT: Oh yes..I forgot to add, it\'s not good form to bring off-site arguments to this forum....Some people wont even know the background...

Not to \"feed the beast\" (I was sort of hoping this thread had magically vanished) but it\'s not a case of \"humour\" - Alexi pisses people off because she engages in anti-social activity (harassing other posters, bragging about cheating in a painting contest) and then once she\'s called on it, she says \"hey, I\'m just joking, all in good fun right?\" Except it\'s clear that she\'s not joking, and in fact is just being a jerk.

@finn17 - why should we put up with her crap just because her painting \"inspires\" people? Her being a good painter makes the current issue even more bizarre - she could get people\'s CC votes just on the basis of her usual painting without having to resort to violating the contest rules. And she\'s the one who raised the issue in this discussion, for some bizarre attention-seeking reason.

Sorry to keep posting about this, but CMON is one of the few places on the Web that I\'ve seen which isn\'t swamped by this kind of juvenile behaviour, and it saddens me to see it happen here.

Thank you...

@NSA - thank you for saying what so many of us are thinking! There is only so much \"fun\" one can take - especially when the \"fun\" includes attacking a very nice person who\'s trying to put on a fair competition. Obviously it does matter if you have a big rack. I wonder - if Jason were a woman and stacked if Alexi would be able to get away with her awful behaviour?

Seems like just a couple of weeks ago she was attacking another CMoN member. Hmmm, makes you wonder...

This is great stuff. I just want to remind everyone that if this thread is truely upsetting, you should probably stop reading it. If you have a sick and sarcastic sense of humor or like arguing keep posting! I\'ll keep reading.

You do paint very well Natalya, and you do look great. I don\'t think anyone is denying that. I\'m just not sure people respect you more because you keep posting those pictures of yourself (especially the one with the pineapple). It was getting stupid at Headblast. I can see why it\'s funny once in a while, but all the time?

I don\'t understand why you won\'t just admit that you did something silly.

Having the first mini on the internet was not your mistake, but it broke the rules of the contest, and the rules were followed.
Removing the other picture was silly, and posting about like Jason was doing something wrong was also silly.
It\'s been a while since I\'ve been upset about stuff online, but I honestly don\'t think you\'re being fair here.

Why not let your painting speak for itself for once?

Anyone ever see that Sinefeld episode with all the guys going- eewww Catfight...and then standing back.

Perhaps this is an example no?

I got into my buddies little wee squable the last time and had fair warning from the moderators for far less. So let me be the voice of reason this time.
Kill the friggin\' thread. Now please.:D

@Mancha- took a peak at all your hard work setting things up- looks most cool. Sorry if I chimed in to your agony at all, but I think it seems you are above this kinda flammage. lol

@ THE MODS, I must agree with Flinn, there is some self defence going on both ways. So no need to give anyone the perverbial boot, no?
But as my esteemed colleague above has stated. Lets close this sucker down. In the words of Borg not so long ago, lets go start some trouble somewhere else.
lol
