Yeah I suspect it was an Alexi Z piece too... I had it tentatively pencille din for a couple of categories... Guess not :( Too bad too, I wanted to copy it to my \"inspiration\" folder....

Oh well. Happens all the time with rules. Just means the rest of us might get an extra vote lol

That one was my first place choice for Fantasy as well. :(

Hi Everyone,

I\'ve just read through this entire thread for the first time. It was strange and sort of anxiety-provoking to read all the comments related to ME. Thought I\'d provide some feedback.

First, I think it\'s really strange when people say disparaging things on public forums. My thanks to everyone who didn\'t agree with the statement that my bike is lame. ;) Yeah, I guess it is, but it\'s gonna look great painted up.

Second, having moved to El Paso from Buffalo, it took me months to switch from \"soda\" to \"coke\". I couldn\'t figure out how to get a Dr. Pepper when \"coke\" meant any carbonated beverage. Texas is weird.

Third, to whoever suggested that it would take a lottery win to bring on a CCVI: money was never the issue with the CC, it was time that was at issue. With two kids and a basically disapproving wife and a job, etc., finding time to paint has become impossible. It seems kind of silly to maintain a web page when, in fact, I only update it once per year when I run the CC.

That said, as at least one of you has pointed out, I\'ve received so many pleasant comments from people expressing their hope that this won\'t be the last that, barring a veto from the wife, there WILL be a CCVI. In fact, I\'m already thinking about a commemorative mini.

Fourth, regarding the votes and comments system: I know it\'s crude. Part of me thinks that I should switch over to CMON-style voting. Part of, however, likes it the way it is. Maybe casting a vote just shouldn\'t be easy. I like the idea of taking votes only from people who are willing to put time and effort into casting their votes.

To the one person who asked, and the many people who were wondering, \"Does it always take this long?\" Answer: Yup.:D For the first three days following the deadline I was collecting and processing late entries. Then life got in the way for a while, then more CC work, then life,... You know. I know the wait was frustrating and I apologize.

Thought I\'d point out, by the way, that I bought the CMON Annual in the first week it was available. :)

Uh oh, life is coming up again: Gotta go.

Thanks to everyone who\'s been expressing their support and warm opinion of the CC. I appreciate all the effort and consideration so many of us in the painting community have given to the CC.

Hi Jason and welcome to the forums!

The CC is probably the best known and my personal favourite of all the years online painting competitions, and I am sure that if you needed help with CCVI you\'d have loads of us raving volunteers ready to code/collate/count or whatever else you need doing.

You do a great job, and i think people\'s impatience is only because they see the competition as valuable and important in their painting calender. I know I will be scouting out female minis to paint for the CC at the end of this year ready for next years comp!

Keep up the hard work, and I hope 2005 is a good year for the Moses clan! I\'ll keep my fingers crossed for a CCVI!

Hi Jason, welcome to the forums.

This is the first year that I\'ve ever come across CC (well I\'m a relatively new painter) and I have to say that I was happy to hear that you plan on continuing this as I will finally get a chance to participate (this year just didn\'t happen).

Anyhow, I hope life gets a bit easier for you. And Texas isn\'t wierd. Everything is a coke don\'tcha know!?

Hi Jason!

I\'m thrilled about the possibility of a CCVI and I will follow Peter\'s example and start thinking about prospective entries quite soon, perhaps even painting some, so that I can have more than one entry and don\'t have to sit for 16 hours straight trying to finish it! :innocent: I\'ll be thinking hard for a couple of days on my picks and send you my votes in the weekend.

BTW, I don\'t think you should change the voting system. I think it\'s good that it takes some effort to vote, because that makes it harder for people who want to screw up the competition and forces those who vote to think hard before they do.

I really like the Chick Challenge! This is the first time I enter and I would love to be able to participate again. Thank you for doing this! :D

Cheers,
Anders

Jason great to see you here in the forums, as you can tell your competition definately stirred a lot of enthusiasm and excitement around here. I\'ll echo what others have said, that I\'m thrilled about the possibility of the next CC, and would definately get started earlier, in fact I already have a couple entries in mind. Also I agree that your voting system is ideal, and I think the only drawback to it is the burdon it places on you to deal with all those emails and tally the votes. Other than that, the system makes voting seem much more hands on, rather than just clicking a number to vote (and no sniping your way either!)

Thank you for all your hard work, now if you could just make march 15th come a little faster, you\'d be my best friend! (patience isn\'t one of my virtues :D)

March Madness!

That\'s us all going crazy waiting to see who did what.

Maybe some of those who didn\'t participate this year can help Jason crunch the emails?
Or maybe he wants to see for himself what everyone has to say?
I have patience for this.

As to planning ahead. Somewhere on my harddrive are the pictures I took last year of the minis I was going to enter this year. As it turned out I didn\'t do any of those and picked all new ones as soon as he announced he was doing CCV.
Planning is overrated.:p

Wanna know?

Wanna know something that you may not give a toot about?

Just an off-side weirdness of mine. But my favorite mini is this entry in the small category.

http://www.thewarp.net/war/believers/Cinco_316_after.jpg

I know it\'s not technically perfect, but I really really love it!

It may even creep up on the best overall spot for me. Thanks to whomever put that one together.

Just my two cents Canadian

I agree that it is a great piece. Not much has as much \"jwa-du-vee\" as that one.
It has the advantage of being listed in 2 categories, so maybe it has a chance.

Yeah, that\'s a good one. It gets points too for being \"unconventional\".

Whoever did the creepy-looking Alice standing on a dead Card Soldier (#168) is a genius. It\'s one of the creepiest-looking minis I\'ve ever seen. The face is amazing (especially considering it\'s obstructed and must be very hard to paint). Also, #484 really moved me, \"historicals\" aren\'t really my thing, but wow. She\'s like a Henry Tanner painting come to life as a miniature.

I agree, both are brilliant and received votes from me. My favourite would be #276. Superb! :wow:

...and I love the badger! lol

Well after many hours of contemplation, and a ton of comments later, I have finished my voting. Good thing, or I could drag it on and miss the deadline.

My absolute favorite of the contest is Entry #132. I think the basing is top notch, and the figure itself, painted brilliantly. In the end, it really reminds me of something Erol Otus would paint for some reason.. Maybe the figure itself, and that sword.

Great job by everyone who entered, voted and JASON!

yep, the evil alice gets a big nod from me. not the best technically painted mini on there, but certainly evokes one of the strongest reactions.
i also really liked the rackham conversion of the blue and gold armoured \'chick\' with the single banner on her shoulder. can\'t remember what number it is, but I suspect i know who did it. beautiful work...

I thought I\'d post my favorite here as well. it\'s #176, I don\'t know what it is about this one, it\'s not the most dynamic, not the best base, but something about just makes it stick in my head. I love it!

I still have to e-mail in my votes and comments, but I have all my picks in all the categories written in a notebook. I\'m hoping to participate in the next one- it will be my first time in the CC!

Is anyone else having trouble getting to the CC site, and Jason\'s site as a whole? I can get to the root page www.thewarp.net, but not to the CC stuff.

You just love to stir up trouble don\'t you? lol

Just wanted you all to know that I\'ve offered Jason my help on the next CC. I know I won\'t have enough painting experience to enter next year and I\'m sure he could use the help. So, hopefully he\'ll continue to \'host\' CC\'s in the future - despite everything that happened this time around.
