Chick Challenge

Dammit I was going to finish my votes today!!!

It\'d be a shame if we lost this little fun event because of someone\'s personal drama turned Soap Opera.

I hope Jason isn\'t too discouraged to have pulled the whole thing. :(

Hopefully it\'s just a server overload issue and will be resolved in time.:]

There is the ring of absolute truth in that statement.
Although I have never participated in a Chick Challenge, I would be particularly dissappointed to see it closed down because of the contretemps that are going on.
Why should the apparent tantrums of one person be allowed to spoil what has always been a great and respected online event.

Jason has my respect for hosting this competition, and I hope will continue to host it for a lot longer, so that I can get my lazy butt into gear and enter at least once.

My guess is it is down temporarily to remove offenders and will be back up shortly. Still, we are adults and should know the results of breaking the rules.

You guys have been thinking the CC is down because I\'d thrown in the towel over Ms. Melnick?! Nah. I almost wish it were that simple. Then a couple encouraging emails would suffice to get the CC back online. Instead, it seems the voters have overwhelmed the bandwidth. See my explanation in another thread titled \"Chick Challenge down\".

Jason, thanks for the update, I wish you the best of luck resolving the technical problems, seems our enthusiasm is ultimately more destructive than this little soap opera. :D

I think people were (at least I know I was) just concerned for you, not trying to start new rumors. I think all of us know the sting of being hurt after/for doing something selfless and it is particularly diffucult pill to swallow. And the fear was that you were taking it hard. I\'m glad to see your spirits back up, your efforts are appreciated more than I can express.

thank you,
Eric

my fear was actually that some disgruntled contestant got mad at having a pic pulled and hacked in to shut the site. Glad it\'s just the overwhelming success instead.

I can attest to it being all back up and running again. Just spent 5 hours - 5 hours!!! - viewing and voting. What a wonderful crop of entries :wow::eek: It was very, very tough trimming it down to only three in each category. I think my first, \"rough\" cut in the Fantasy category, cut it way down to about 25 lol

Congradulations are in order to everybody who entered. Good show! And especilly to Jason for all his hard work. You should be very, very proud.

Finally finished voting yesterday! Total of 6 hours online over a few days to do it, but worth every minute. Now I have to choose Best of Show and I\'m so torn I need a couple days just to make the decision.

Still, I think a few deserve special voter awards for other things...Most humorous to those goblin cheerleader girls--laughed so hard I cried. Scariest or eeriest to that Alice on the dead card. (shiver)

Any other special awards we could give?

Six categories down, five more plus Best in Show to go. This has been MUCH harder than I thought it would be. Really top notch work this year folks. I\'m very impressed.

As for additional awards, how about \"Most necked\" and \"Strangest Mini\" or \"Funniest Mini\"?

Cheers,
Grumb

Done!

I sent my votes in yesterday. Not only did I vote in every category, I posted a brief comment on every one I voted for, including the Best in Show and a comment for a mini that I didn\'t vote on. Geez, that was one long e-mail, took me nearly an hour.

Can\'t wait to see the results!

Me too. Just finished the voting and like Michelle I commented on every mini I voted for plus one I didn\'t for each category. :]

That took a while. The Best in Show was tough. Can\'t wait to see the final results.

I just wonder what is the name of this mini:
Fantasy Entry #176: Reaper

I love the face!

I can\'t seem to find it anywhere, I\'m not entirely familliar with Reapers mini line either.. so I don\'t know if it\'s a conversion.

cheers

I\'m pretty familiar with Reaper\'s figs, and this didn\'t look like one, although it did have the look of a Sandra Garrity sculpt to me. On a hunch, I tried looking at the www.discounthobby.com special edition Gods figures, which are done by Sandra, and turns out this is one of them, the Lady of the Lake. The Gods figures are limited runs, one is featured for a few months and given out if you purchase a certain amount of product during that time, and then it goes out of production. That\'s my understanding of how it works, at least. I dunno if they ever come up on ebay or anything. If you go to the Discount Hobby page, there\'s a list of links to all the Gods figures on the right hand side of the page.

Like Michelle and Scott I voted and commented on every one I voted on - plus - I just about commented on every mini out there! (Thought the ones that were o.k., but not great would want some positive feedback.) That was for the first 6 or 7 categories I did. After that the comments started dwinding! Thank goodness some of them were such crap they didn\'t even need a comment.

Does anyone know when the results will be posted?

I\'m not even going to try to guess at a Best in Show. I\'m only voting on six categories too - I won\'t have any time between now and wednesday to go over the rest properly... Soooo many great entries

That one was my favorite, too! I had that same problem as well, when I saw it was listed as Reaper, I combed through the Reaper galleries looking for her. Thank you, Wren for the link!

If anyone else is wondering which I\'m talking about, you can see her at the CCV site here: #176

:wow:
