A better version of Stairway to heaven?! HERESY!!!!!
As long as we\'re on the subject of Led Zepplin & cover versions of songs... Almost every song on their first two albums were cover versions of older songs. Interestingly enough, they were also almost all attributed to Jimmy Page! There was a great deal of controversy about it at the time because both they and the record company were refusing to pay any rights to the real owners of the songs, most of whom were old blues musicians. Just to make matters worse (remember this was back in the late 60s and early 70s) both Page & Robert Plant made asses of themselves by making some pretty ignorant, racist statements to the effect that maybe others had written and performed them previously, but they were the first to make them really popular because they were white.
Proving once again that having great talent doesn\'t necessarily make you smart.

My former band recorded a version of Kim Wyldes \'\'Kids in America\'\' That has a bit of balls to it, so much so that I cannot listen to the original now as it sounds like it all drones on and only has one level.
