Advice... it's a bit late for battle damage, that needs to be done before any paint is slapped on. if you mean things like bullet impacts, dented plating etc... Pin vices and Dremels don't go well with painted surfaces. You could still do them now, but then you'll have to repaint small area's here and there.
For advice on weathering, I'd suggest to browse through my BA Army thread, and FW Marine thread, I've did quite a few rants on weathering.
Edit: Oh, I did manage to find an old post where I wrote down my entire painting process used on my BA vehicles. SO here it is, Meph's Continental Plate Drifting Tempo Painting Process.
I guess you could boil down my entire process as following:
-Undercoat
-Basecoat
-Wash
-3 Drybrush highlights
-Glaze
-Wash
-Some highlight accenting with drybrush, if needed.
-Varnish with satin or gloss in case you're going to mask, not needed otherwise
-Apply masking and paint up all secondary colours (usually same as previous steps, but on smaller scale)
-Paint up all details
-Varnish with satin or gloss
-Apply decals
-Varnish with satin
-Apply paint chipping
-Varnish with gloss
-Apply oil wash
-Varnish with satin or gloss
-Apply grease (oils paints)
-Varnish with gloss
-Apply acrylic washes such as heat discolouration, to darken the recesses of vents if needed, and such
-Apply black weathering powders for soot
-Varnish with satin or gloss
-Apply mud & dirt weathering
-Apply some graphite straight from the pencil and rubbed on scrapings on metallic edges here and there.
-Varnish with Satin or matte, 2-3 layers
Done!
