Well if its an hour and 10 minutes long its lucky evene though they say run time 90 minutes.. ..and thats comprised of one hand held camera bouncing around the entire time..Manhatan having the shit tore out of it by with out spoiling things..a big..something..yeah something..
it felt like a student project..
disapointed..
Im sure there will be people out there who love it.. and who knows.. I just felt it was missing..a true Beginning.. and a real end.. and well a whole lot of middle..
Id give it a D, C- tops.

Want to know where the monster came from?

Well I saw the trailer at a cinema here in berlin some time ago and decided I would certainly not watch the movie - the way the camera was jumping up and down is the surest way to get a good headache. I dig monster movies but that´s just too much of experimenting for my taste...
May watch it when they show in on german TV in 2-3 years.

When I watch a trailer and have no idea what the movie is about, that\'s a sign that it\'s going to be a one-trick pony. And it will suck.

I would never consider this movie for anything worthy of an OSCAR.
Bad filming.. Bad acting.. plot is okay but not fully utilized.
The characters all sucked..there was alot of whinning and women screaming..as they died the movie got quieter and more bearable... Basically..just go on YOUTUBE and watch the videos of planes crashing into the WTC and have a friend make lame unfunny comments in the background and you will have your movie.
On the other hand..the monster was pretty cool..better then Godzilla IMO. The idea of not putting scientists in white suits explaining where it came from was refreshing. YOu just accept and deal with it.
The movie had much potential that the director just did not have the experience to bring out.

You\'re lucky then.. I paid 12.00 x 2 for tickets..
7.50 x 2 for popcorn and soda.. ALmost 40 dollars to watch that junk.

well $11.00 was for the \"Directors\" theatre they call it..has delux leather seats that are spread apart a little extra, digital and better sound.
I didnt add the food (Jumbo Nathans hot dog and frys and some twizzlers) and I bought and the soda that sold volume wise for more than crude oil.. Ultimately I was out of pocket about $23.00 but I figured I had to eat at some point so I wasnt including the food.
Ive spent some time checking forums devoted to Cloverfield, for ever one guy who loved it and talks out his ass about hos this movie was a cenematic masterpiece and to \"High brow\" for the average movie goer..theres about 10 people going..this movie sucked ass..

Thats one hint..check youtube for Chuai Station English..it was part of the viral campaign on hints.. what Im gathering was the monster was released by deap sea drilling.
\"Cloverfield\" I beleave is the code name given as the Military operation to destroy the monster.. or Im totally off base.

I haven\'t even seen this movie advertised in all honesty and hadn\'t heard of it until DFD mentioned it the other day that he wanted to see it.
Ah well . . . you win some and you lose some. I\'m just glad I\'ve never left a theatre before feeling that gyped. I mean I\'ve seen some B movies in the theatre but I can\'t say I\'ve seen a movie I would give a D in the theatre. Now, on DVD or VHS . . . ah yeah, I even own some from the bargain bin that sounded interesting or my dad got for me because he thought I\'d like it.
Anyway, hopefully they won\'t make the gimongous mistake of making a sequel to this one.

Aha, I\'m always wondering what superwise guys in the military come up with such names...And thinking further, why has a military operation have to have a name anyway.
Why not call it simply plan A or plan 1. ??? Would be better to archivate...That would be another topic I guess.

well because if every operation was operation A - Z then we\'d run out of options very quickly.
I worked in Navy Archives for a while and everything had a different name and a good thing too. I worked in a small archive in DC and we had millions upon millions of records and probably hundreds of thousands of \"operations\" or \"events\"
So, yeah, every operation needs to have a name and usually the operations do have different phases within the names that are lettered or numbered like you suggested.
