I received my copy in vancouver canada quite a while ago, but I ordered from the first batch to be printed. I can only assume that those that haven\'t received their copy are waiting for the second printing.

I was impressed with the overall quality of the book and the participation of members of the mini painting community. I\'ve drawn a lot on inspiration from the work of everyone out there. It has motivated me to get painting again and to try some new things.

However, some of the photographs either didn\'t do the mini justice, or somepeople have been doing a lot of altering in photoshop before posting to the site. (I choose to believe the photos don\'t do the minis justice. So don\'t flame me on this ;) )

I know we aren\'t all professional photographers. So my suggestion for a tutorial for the next edition would be on photographing minis.

Also Crispy\'s tutorial on NMM would be nice as well.

:D but a huge round of applause for script monkey and wright zombie for putting this all together!

Try to remember that the photos on this site are all 100k or under. The ones in the book probably average 1 to 2 Megs. Plus all the restrictions on colours and DPI of the monitor screen. You have to imagine some of the detail of the mini and individual brushstrokes get lost when posted online. That\'s why we have the nice highly detailed images in print to learn our art from. :)

Not that I have the book yet. I was corrected by Chern earlier when I suggested that some of the preorders were coming in the 2nd batch. I would hate to have been right. :(

Despite the wait, I\'m still looking forward to it.. :)

Ok what\'s going on here? Edmonton is like 2 days away from Vancouver via truck, and I pre-ordered *as soon as Canada was allowed to do so on the CMON site* (at least, I thought I did - I was checking the site constantly wanting to pre-order). I believe my order was June 25th.

My shipping email says Sept 16th which was 24 days ago. Most of my miniature, dvd and game auctions reach US buyers in 9-10 business days.

Shipping was 16 dollars USD.

I\'m trying to be patient but when I hear a Vancouverite got his books \"quite a while ago\" - that\'s not cool. Chern or Borg, what\'s the scoop here? What shipping method is being used to get the books to Angela and I in Alberta?

Shroud. I can only assue that I lucked out and got my order in during the short window for the 1st printing that newwave had in stock. That or you\'ll have to kick Canada post\'s a$$ for losing it. I received my copy in early September. I can certainly understand your frustration:(

Get nothing !

I\'m disappointed too !

I\'ve pre-ordered two books asking a shipment to Michigan (order number 429). My order status say \"shipped the 16/09/2003\" and I haven\'t received anything yet.

The worse is that I\'m in the book three times (Bree village, Gandalf and Saroumane under pseudo Richard) and I can\'t have a copy of this book where I\'ve put my contribution !

I think there is something wrong and I\'d appreciate a feedback from CoolMini for example by answering to my emails.

I\'m really disappointed by a such strange situation. When I sell copyrights on some of my other works, I ask to be paid for and I ask a free sample too. In this case, I give freely my rights and I pay for the books !!! I don\'t understand what happens ! ???

Dissapointed

I am very dissapointed as well. I have ordered very early ( No.350 ) and in my account the order is still pending. Since there are a few images of my miniatures in the book i really would like to get it. I have ordered two books and i pay for it as well ( i have not asked for a free sample ). I was really going to support this book ( i was made a copy of all my images on a CD and send this disk to Dave directly) , all at my own cost and without asking for something. All i would like to get is my books now.

cheers
Fredy

Just to clarify, of course I support CoolMini too !

That\'s why I\'ve accepted to FREELY publish my mini in the CoolMini artbook. And I\'m ok to PAY for my CoolMini artbook copies.

But in general, as a professionnal artist, when a company uses my artworks, the company pays for them and gives me a free sample.

It\'s not the case for CoolMini. It\'s free for CoolMini and I pay for my books ...

So I\'d appreciate to have my pre-ordered books and at least to have some answers to my emails.

That\'s highly unusual. If the order email states that it\'s been \"shipped\" then it has indeed been shipped out the door into the postal system.

If it says \"pending\", that means your credit card hasn\'t cleared for some reason. I know that one or two persons have credit cards that prevent international orders.

The surest way to get it through would be via PayPal if you have it, or to try another credit card.

Fredy, I\'m checking your order now but I suspect there was a problem clearing your card. The best way would probably be for the fulfilment centre to try your card again, and if to doesn\'t work, to cancel the order and place a new one using Paypal instead.

Gantalf, it says here that your order has been shipped, to a US address as you requested. What is the issue you are having?

I have received no email from Gantalf or Ulgaard, and I\'m in regular communication with Discount Hobby, the shipping address you used. Likewise, I haven\'t gotten any email from you Fredy regarding this either.

PLEASE NOTE: Do not send email to New Wave. Just because they are the fulfilment centre does not mean that they deal with customer service directly. If I don\'t see the email, nothing will get done. The easiest way to get a response is just reply to your order receipt, which has or sales@coolminiornot.com email address and will provide me with your order details, or the other way is via the Contact Us form in the shop.

Hi Chern!

Thank you for your reply. I dont understand the problem with the card because my other orders from newwave did work with the mastercard but no problem. i am going to cancel the order and use PayPal.

Cheers

i think it would be cool to be paid or even get a book for free but considering this is a mass undertaking of indy publishing and from the looks of it, it would be cool to break even let alone sell all the books. and even THAT doesnt garuntee a next book even though wed like one. but i think its cool of y\'all to pimp your work for de book. i certainly enjoyed the pics. next year will be smoother in tons of ways book wise from making to publishing to shipping etc but im trying to think of ways in which we could get the book out the door faster or for more people and shops to hear about it. maybe a good advertising campaign to hobby shops and trying to get this out the door via mass retailers but i dont know if thats the way to go. i think it would help cover initial costs of the book with a smaller return maybe but that was a given from the get go. i guess as long as you make enough to keep trucking its cool and keep getting the word out.

hmmmm why not searching for the \"help\" of some companies for the next book?

Maybe with a slight touch of advertisment here and there, lets say in Harbinger or so. Maybe a company like reaper might support somethink like this book, or GW or ... not something that it is their pet, but maybe it helps to make it more popular or to finance it.

For example if the pictures are sorted after manufacturers, it might be nice to have a short introduction in the miniature lines (small advertisment if you want, but nothing too big) Maybe something like this.

I will sort through all the problem ones asap. Also the second shipment is at the docks, just a matter of clearing customs and I will have a ton of books on hand. At that time, any missing shipments or misships will be able to be handled, but as of now, I have no books, so I am pretty much powerless to take care of any problems. We appreciate your patience.

i think chern touched on this, but it would suck including a AD in a thick hard cover art book, i think he mentioned a insert or something, that may work on some level, like a leaflet insert full color, maybe a few companies with some advertising info.

Ads

Few ads could be an interesting way to get a quick return on investment and to secure next releases of this book.

I think, it\'s important to manage this point carefully in order to avoid to have an awful magazine full of ads, but two or three ads (inside covers for example) could be interesting.

I can say that Fenryll is ok to reasonably fund such ads because CoolMini is a good way to promote figure art ! ;)

Hows about...

Sponsorship from someone like vallejo? They could publish their article on blending and advertise their products at the same time.

Personally, I don\'t think adverts would be a bad idea as one of the most valuable things about CMON is sharing websites/dealers/suppliers etc...

Lets put it this way...I\'d rather see a second book with relevant ads in than no book at all..
:D
