There once was a wargames club in Scummy Cov which went by the name of Darkside. Every Sunday the twisted and mis-shapen members of the local gaming community gathered there to roll dice and argue about rules but gradually their numbers dwindled like that of a pox ridden hamlet and in their desperation they decided to send out a call for fresh blood to induct into their foetid ranks. Sadly there was an impediment to their fiendish plan, they required a sign. A sign by which they could be recognised and acclaimed as the gaming gods they truly were. A tribute was offered up and powers were called upon to provide...


I\'ve been part of my local gaming club for a good few years and the trusting foo.... my intelligent comrades in dice put me in charge. Numbers have been dropping off for a while and we need new members. To get new members we need to advertise. To advertise we need to make posters. To make posters we need a logo, which is where you come in.

We\'ve decided to change the name as Darkside was a bit silly and everyone just called it \"the club\" anyway. For that reason we\'ve decided to call it \"Da Klub\" and we\'ve opened up a competition to see if we can get a new logo. We also need a bit of artwork to put on the posters so if any of you can draw (and I know you can) we\'d appreciate your input.

We need:

A logo featuring the words \"Da Klub\" possibly with a big cartoon of a club with a nail in it or something to go at the top of the poster and to be used on other stuff.

A piece to put in one of the lower corners of the poster to tie in with the logo.

The club has decided that we can offer a prize of about £25 ($50ish) worth of cash or minis of your choice for the winner.

Not really as it\'ll end up being scanned anyway so in theory we could re-size it as needed.

edit: To be honest as long as we have the scan I don\'t think we\'d even need to have the original artwork, so the size of your scanner is the limit.

Hey Undave, I\'d love to take a whack lol at it but I don\'t have the time right now. What I do have is an expansion of your \"nail in the club\" idea. What is there were dice imbedded in the club, much like spikes? Just to put an idea out there for anyone who\'d like to use it.

Logos are one of the funnest things to do as a graphic designer, just wish I had the time.

The kind of thing I had in mind (if only I was good enough at drawing) was a big stone \"Da Klub\" with a mighty mulleted barbarian type whacking seven shades out of it with a big spikey club and then the same barbarian leaning on his club for the bottom of the poster. Then we\'d kind of have a mascot to go with it.

Of course that was just my idea, I don\'t want to influence anyone elses ideas particularly. It\'s much more fun to see what people come up with off their own bat.


As there\'s a chance someone might get all legal on us the following conditions apply.

1. All artwork will remain the property of the original owner with the rights for Da Klub to use it for advertising and in any other way we see fit.
2. By submitting artwork you retain all rights untill such time as the competition has been judged.
3. The prize will only be issued on acceptance of the first condition, if that condition is not accepted another winner will be selected... and stuff...

just seen new \'requirements\' will try do something around that :p

but I do like to work in vector based artwork, just personal preference, so expect silhouettes or few colours, better for printing costs though, and works better in B+W :]

Bobbins!... Closing dates... I hadn\'t thought of that.

I suppose we\'ll just keep it going untill we have enough entres to choose from.


Can you tell we put a lot of thought into this? lol

As long as I can get a file I can open and print that will do fine. I had envisaged most people wanting to go the traditional pen and paper route but CGI is completely acceptable :D

Actually it reminds me of an old prop we used to employ when I worked at GW Cov. It was an old length of 2\" square batton about 4\' long with \"da lernin\' stik\" written on it. Whenever the kids acted up the manager used stand in the stockroom doorway and gesture menacingly with it lol


We had to hide it whenever the area manager came round though.

Using Gilvan\'s pic as an example this is pretty much what we intend to do with the finished product. Hopefully it gives you all a better idea of what I was trying to describe.

;) maybe a nice pink satin bow tied around one club would appeal to the Lady Gamers lollollol
