Age of empires..... exercises your brain......:yes::yes: sort of lol
Age of empire sucks.. there\'s much better RTS out there...
I play medieval2: Total war... it\'s pretty much my favorite strategy game. Civilization 4 is pretty neat also. There\'s also Rise of nations.. gets boring fast but you can have some fun with it.
If you like SimCity (I do
) try Sim City4, way more complete than 2000 and with good specs you can make it look real pretty.
And a couple dozen of these generic FPS games if you wanna be like the cool kids...

Got the kids an Xbox for Christmas and I haven\'t gone much beyond Half Life 2 at the mo. Know there\'ll be better games out there but the storyline is gripping me at the mo.
Also got Far Cry2 and Mass Effect, both of which we flogged pretty soon after as they were indeterminably dull...

I made the mistake of getting Age of Empires 3 and I have to say it\'s one of the worst games I\'ve ever played.
Aside from the fact that the gameplay more boring than watching Hirstarts blocks dry. My five year old could have come up with a better story than the plotline for the single player campaign. It makes no effort whatsoever to be \"historically accurate\", The \"revoultionary\" home city feature is largely pointless as all you get are cards that send you extra resources or units which you could make yourself in about half the time it takes to earn them. The upgrades you get to tart up your city are disapointingly crap, not least because you can\'t see half of them because of the camera angle or big interface boxes which cover them completely.
If anyone wants a copy (only used once) I think I\'ll see if I can flog it on the trading post. lol

Forgot to mention, I don\'t have Age of Empires either.
Oblivion I never tied as I hated Morrowind. Too boring. Spending hours leveling a skill or collecting mushrooms, just not interesting enough for me.
Another suggestion is Guild Wars, any of the ones out (I think there are three). Great if you love PVP games that aren\'t just First person shooters. I would say it\'s like an MMO Diablo based around PvP. No subscription makes it much more accessable then most MMOs.
Also worth checking out are all the Free to Play MMO\'s out there. Dungeon Runners is a 3D diablo clone. Archlord is a great Free to play game, that used to be pay. Excellent PvP at higher levels. Check out www.mmorpg.com for lots more games.

Whaaaaaaat? AOE2 rocks. But DOW is better. (Oh and Undave I feel your pain AOE3 sucks.)
With all the other suckiness surrounding AoE3 I completely forgot my biggest gripe. In this day and age you expect games to have seperate voice files for each faction so why oh why are my British settlers speaking what sounds like Dutch half the time? The whole thing is a huge cop out :cussing:

The last AOE that I played was the second one in the series. I played that one to death and got bored with it and haven\'t touched one since.
Fallout 3 is very good and fun.
But the game I have been playing lately and keep going back to is the Total War series. The mods for the games are fun and extend the normal playing cycle 10 fold. I am still playing with Rome Total War because of all the great mods.
I have medevil Total War but haven\'t played it mush because I am still addicted to the mods for Rome. I am sure I will play it more once I get a faster machine. Since my computer slows way down in battles with alot of troops in Medevil I don\'t know if I will be getting Empire when it comes out. Maybe later when I upgrade.
Anyway try out the Total War series.

Just to mention that if online play is what would draw someone to these then the only one with significant numbers still is BF2 isn\'t it?
Plus I think it\'s generally regarded as the standout of the series, certainly better than the piece of crap that followed on from it!

I\'d recommend Thief 2 and Thief: Deadly Shadows. Both are stealth games with a high level of thinking required, but you still get to have fun killin\' stuff. Deadly Shadows should work great on your new system.

BF Vietnam, BF2, BF2142 are still very much in play online. BF Vietnam is easier to play and thus more fun in a \'game\' sort of way, BF2, BF2142 I enjoy because they tend to be harder and thus more challenging.
