Haven\'t tried that trick! Sounds kind of interesting and makes good sense. To be sure I\'ll be trying it before the weekend is out! Thanks for the idea!!!

:flip:

I\'m terrified to open my GW inks . . made the mistake of simply shaking one . . ! I gotta get new bottles for the inks at least . . .

Water, water everywhere

When I paint, I have at least 3 pots of water handy.

1 for cleaning my brush - normal paint
1 for cleaning my brush - metallic paint (& diff brush too!)
1 for diluting colours

I too have used inks to water down my paints - it helps keep a strong colour, especially for those weak GW reds etc.

I\'m ignoring all other comments on the grounds I\'ll only be digging a bigger hole for myself...

yeah for a while I didn\'t thin my paints much, but now I do. As for the GW inks, I\'m moving over to windsor and Newton inks. They\'re just as good and the bottles don\'t leak. :D:D

oh and wet pussys? hmmm.....

Tooshy, if your cat really drank from it, I don\'t think it will cause anything more serious than a very mild indigestion.

Regarding the other comments... I consider myself bilingual, but not so much as to start throwing THAT kind of jokes around without overstepping myself...:bouncy:

I\'m posting from work so don\'t have the bottle in front of me - do the Windsor and Newton inks come in the glass pyramid bottles? - if so I\'ve only tried them once - I saw some Warmaster skellies in my local GW with an interesting colour for the bone and was told the painter had used (I think) W&N brown as a wash - bought some and tried it on some Warhammer skellies but was really dissapointed in the depth of colour achieved and went back to washing with snakebite leather
ho! hum!

Thinning paints

I don\'t pretend to be more interesting than tooshy\'s wet pussy (pussies???), but I do have a trick for those of you who use Vallejo paints.
Using the eyedropper bottle, you can drop a small amount of paint on you palette, but this needs also a small, and controlled, amount of water / magic wash / ink / tea / onion soup / whatever you use to thin your paint.
The best and easiest way I have to control the amount of water I mix is to have it in a very small syringe, ask your local pharmacist for insulin ones. You fill it with your mix and drop a tiny, very easy to control amount of water / ... in the paint and have always the right consistency for the job.
Upon reflexion, maybe everybody is already using my \'smart invention\' and I\'m the idiot of the thread?

And so... The evil CMON conspiracy to make an idiot out of Zecorto is revealed ;)

No seriously, never thought about it, actually was waiting to get one of those vallejo pots completely devoid of paint. Sadly, with all the painitng I\'m doing that\'s going to take a while

Does any one else (apart from ZeCorto of course) use onion soup to thin their paint??

Is this real French onion soup \'cause I\'m a bit worried about the cheese!

Well, I guess if you use onion soup to thin your paint at least your brush will be flavorful when you lick it. lol:flip:lol

You\'d only be an idiot if you took insulin and got your syringes confused.

mixing

To get my ratios correct I premix my Future Floor Wash and water 1 to 10, and keep that in a dropper bottle. Then I put a drop of paint/ink on the pallete then a drop of \"mix\" nearby and drag whatever I need together.

Just an idea.

lol

AAAAAAhhhh. Yeah. That\'s what I need. People seeing me buying syringes at the local pharmacy. I might just as well trade in my toilet for an \'A\' cup and a \'B\' cup.

Out of curiosity, does anyone here buy dropper bottle and transfer their GW paints into them? I\'ve just bought the GW gold and boltgun metal, but I abhor these crappy little pots.
