<ahem> I mean yes, I have been fortunate enough to be invited to supply some images for consideration.

is it really a surprise with the IQ 393/9151 ? I mean when you are that good it's possible to get at least 1 entry to 8+ :)

on the bright side, I got an invite too.
Now to figure out 2 things:
- how to make good pictures as those I do are usually ... bad.
- how to take pictures, when the chosen entries are 1000km away and I'll go home 2 weeks after the timelimit.

Got my 2012 in the mail yesterday.
Gorgeous, as usual.
A little disappointed that my one and only pic was cropped, but still pleased to be a part of it.

For 2014, I think CMON should run some kind of contest where all participants paint the same
figure ( or a theme )and all who score above 8.0 or 8.5 are featured in the Annual in its own chapter.
Anybody else like this idea ? Just don't make it a GW figure.......

as an extra chapter: yeah why not?

but I fear it'll never really work because:
- figure selection: you don't want a GW figure, XY doesn't want another one, YZ another-another one, etc. (to be honest: CMON book --> CMON mini would be here the best)
- favoritism, gamers and friends: it exists. Some painter can give in any basic paintjob it'll be rated high / ask a lot of people, who normally play but don't really paint (even better if friends) and watch the score go high as compared to their expectations you do a superb work. (no real solution to this one)
- previous points given: most people feel strange if they have to give a score that's +-1 different, then current one, so after the first 5-10 votes it'll either stay high or low.
- not enough votes/mini... lately it's a problem. World's larges site for painted minis and such, and it takes 3-4 weeks to get 50 votes together (less if 'asking' for votes on gamer forums), and with about 50 votes the voter's personal preferences in style don't really average out.
- own experience: I tried it three times so far
-- once it was a competition, almost no participants because of figure ( "do I really have to buy it?")
-- Painted Figure Exchange (similar to the FE here, but with painted minis), another unsuccessful try. Again not enough interest, because there is no 1 figure, that everyone likes ("do I really have to buy it" again, and "The figure I get won't fit into my army anyway")
-- Online (interactiveÜ, well as much as I could) tutorial for figure painting, with 1 defined figure to learn the lesson / month. Guess what, first question: " can I use XY instead? I don't want to buy that figure, because I won't use it afterwards".

Ok got my 2012 album over the weekend yeah! Totally excellent to see my minis in there (the pride swelling of head boring the wife and friends to death going oh yes I'm published now of course etc etc ad nausium) also got my invites for the next album. Does the truffle shuffle!

Gorgeous pics in the album and you can see the quality of the painting has improved yet again. Seriously year on year the standard just gets better and better. Also really like the embossed front very cool! Totally worth the wait and the money. So playboy gone from under the pillow (I only read it for the articles honest!) and replaced with CMON album 2012; you can imagine a golden halo spilling out of the opened pages and a celestial choir singing rapturously as the book opens ;)

The book just arrived. It looks gorgeous.

One small problem though.

The same thing happened to me as with a friend's wife last year.
In the 2011 book on page 80 there is a pic of a Rackham - Gargoyle that's credited to darktower but belongs (belonged) to her. (I can't find the image in the gallery, apparently the account was removed/deleted)

in the 2012 book: on page 121 The "Belldandy over water" is credited to someone else.
In a way I'm happy, because it is in the book, but would have been even better with the correct name.

Very disappointed. My fault - should of sent better photos. Washed out with no contrast.
Not happy with how they have been cropped and zoomed in, missing out the bases and ruining the whole look of the mini. Zooming in on bad photos = bad mini :(
Also most of my top rated minis have been left out?

Quite frankly my contributions to the annual look a joke compared to the other top class minis. :crying:
