Well, I can't speak for having seen it, but judging from the videos, that thing would have difficulties fitting 10 ordinary soldiers, period. 10 soldiers plus gear? No. 10 Marines? HELL no.

most of em are 7 or 8 plus crew 2-3 with kit its tight.( nervous cough, psst space marines arent really real ! clears throat swallows again nervously).... all is silence, possibly a tubbleweed blows past, a dog barks in the distance.....should have kept that particular cat in the bag.

Psst...I know! BUT if you make a real-life 'replica' of a vehicle MEANT to carry 10 marines, then it should be big enough to be ABLE to carry 10 marines. That is, able to fit 10 guys 8 feet tall, 5 feet wide and 4 feet thick. THAT? Couldn't carry 10 normal-sized soldiers with gear.

You know the first time that I read that MoF I thought that you wrote "there is no Sparta."

And for anyone who cares, a M113A2 is designed to carry a total of 13 troops (driver, TC, squad leader, and 10 grunts) plus the squads gear and weapons. Of course this was drawn up by someone that never had the squeeze 13 troops (doable, tight, very tight, but doable) and there gear into a 113. All the gear and tools that my squad back in the day (12B10 Combat Engineer) filled the back by itself, that any troops would have about 2ft clearance to sit on in the back. That's why you always see 113s with all the rucksacks hanging on the outside. Well that and they probably doubled or tripled the armor on the sides....

I'm thankfull my arse never had to ride in one of those things then! Although it would be nice to strap any kit that wasn't essential onto it and tell the driver i'd see him at the DZ haha.

*shakes head* You know, I cannot see how yo ucan do that. Not with gear, at least. Boggles the mind. I've rode the PBV302. It's half a meter longer, and 'seats' 8. Admittedly, there's a bigger gun, and a crew of 3, but still. Just doesn't add up in my mind.

Not to mention the PBV 401/MT-LB. That óne also 'seats' 2+11, but it's 1.6 meters or so longer than the M113. Just...what'd you do, have guys standing by to push grunts into the vehicle, in the Tokyo Subway manner?

Oh, and is that an O or a 0(Letter or number) at the end of the MOS? *curious*

With American made models it's due to a very sketchy practice. The contractors that bid on the project are allowed to "estimate" the size needed for an average soldier. The dimensions they come up with are for someone who is actually smaller than the average. They're also allowed to estimate (to an extent) how much junk a soldier is carrying. When I was in, I was basically the size they used to estimate the space needed for a soldier. I'm 5'7" and 150 lbs. The guys who I worked with in my office were 6'5" & 215 lbs, and 6'1" and 240 lbs.

They don't take into consideration most things like:
Sniper Rifles
Spades
Water for arid climates (a reasonable amount in the desert is humongous)
RPG's
Mines & Explosives
Obligatory cd player
And that you might have been ordered to actually wear your Interceptor vest.

Maybe they think someone in a C-130 is actually going to cargo drop our stuff at the site.
