Hiya count! Now that red really does look spiffy! Nice job on a difficult color! On your next project down the road when you paint red, try popping those shadows and highlights even more. But don't let that suggestion take anything away from these guys - well done!

On the armor - with gold or silver metallics. If you add washes of various colors...as in wash red let dry, wash blue let dry, and so on. Green and purple work great on gold. The washes add a lot of depth to the metal and look really nice.

Count, i like the blues and reds you have achieved on the skeletons. These are going to look sharp on a gaming table.

In the eye sockets and deep recesses go to real dark brown or even black. It will make them pop out more. Good work.

That's how painting should be. I enjoy it most when it's just for me; just for fun. Contests can be fun too, but the deadlines add stress. And when it stops being fun, you're doing it wrong. Just ask Elly.

As for the revs - I'd like to see a little more separation between the armor plates, but overall quite nice.

Yeah splurging on gunmetal grey and a drybrush of silver dosnt win any prizes but it got them finished, and there good for the game :).

Maybe next time ill spend a little more time, i mean ive only about another 100 of these to do, so at this rate, say 5 years.

But seriously, these are done for me to play the game with more that just grey plastic. Im trying to get my skills up but Im not sure that these models would have been the best to do them with. Maybe next time.

Thanks for the comments Trystan :)

Take care.

Those are great gaming minis. Considering every time I've been to a store, most of the armies are either primer or bare plastic, you've already got a big lead!

Trying to work out what to paint the dwarves. Im really at a blank.

I was thinking just leathers and metals for the shoulders.

But im really not sure, :( Im open to suggestions. These are meant to represent a group of adventuring dwarves rather than a military unit. So i was thinking maybe doing it different for each one.

Also the models are a bit busy, so im having dificulty picking bits out, anyone have any advice for that?

Cheers as allways.

The browns of the leather make sense to me for adventuring dwarves as i would think they would try to blend into their surroundings more than a regiment. And if you do not like it, the brown makes a good base for other colors. I would probably go for dark colors on the metals like chainmail (or whatever gw calls it now) for the same reaon. For a distinctiveness, paint each shield differently to indicate they are not a cohesive military unit.

I find with a busy mini i just need to start laying base colors before i get a good feel on how to handle all the detail. Heck, sometimes i am just about done with a mini when i realize a bit of detail is not what i thought it was and it needs to be modified.

Hi all, right made a start on them. Decided to start with the armour. Let me know what you think.

Remeber these are to game with but im still trying to get better :)

Ive done Gunmetal Grey - then a wash of watered down black ink, then a light brushing of Natural Steel, and finaly a Very light brush of Silver. All VMC paints.

Not sure if the colour change is stark enough, or if it will look better when its against a coloured mini rather than just a black mini.
