Butt, then, most american beers are water aren\'t they?
Ooooh... that hurts. I agree, most people have no taste and drink whatever swill water is forced down their throats by mass market advertising. Much like music and art, but thats another topic completely.
I\'m a beer snob through and through, though. The craft or \"micro\" business has taken off greatly recently in the US, and even more than ever the push is toward big character ales. By big character I mean not only in alcohol content, but also in flavors stemming from an increase in the variety and amount of hops, grains, yeasts, and even botanicals and fruits. The stuff isn\'t for everyone, but then again, most people suck.
These days I find a beer less than 7% to be light, and even the German beers I used to love taste flavorless to me. Much, much too smooth.
Lately I\'ve been into anything from Stone Brewery. Go to arrogantbastard.com for one of their more popular brews. Great Divide makes some killer double IPA. Though stouts aren\'t my thing, I bought a mixed case of Weyerbacher, and by the end of it they really grew on me. At 8% it makes Guiness look like Koolade.
