Crazy weather!

So as anyone in the UK who has stepped outside in the last 48 hours knows, we\'re having some crazymad weather.
I went into town with my friends this afternoon and all the shops were shut and the police had closed off the town centre. We asked them whats up and they said that bits of buildings have been blown off and it was too dangerous to go any further.
I get home and find out that at my mums office a window had been blown in and scattered shards of glass over the main enterance.

Anything happen to anyone else?

I\'m in the middle of quite a large garden overhaul job... I decided to quit working on the very exposed hillside part of the garden and retreat to a lower, more sheltered area (surrounded by trees)... about 10 mins later a huge gust of wind decided to rip of a substantial limb from an ash tree, narrowly missing my work mate... decided to call it off for the day :D

It was nice avoiding the bloody weather being indoors but was costly as I ended up buying a new camera (Nikon D50) lol

just loads of delays and crap traffic. oh, and i dismissed people breaking into my garage the other day as i thought it was yet another wheelie bin being blown over

Today a huge crane came down at a construction area on campus. It missed the building I was in by about twenty meters. Then did hit another, blasting through the roof. There are a lot of college rooms located there, luckily at the time the rooms were mostly unoccupied. Six people wounded, and a few million euro\'s of damage. We\'ll just have to wait what the board will have to say about this; the builders had been warned by students before the accident about the crane looking a bit shaky in the strong wind. Anyway, quite a hectic day over here in Utrecht.

The only major impact personally is that my bike has gone unused for two and a bit weeks. Unheard of. Rain is easy, but wind? I was gurning to get anywhere a few weeks ago and then it just got a whole lot worse. Dangerous is the word, frankly!

Wind in the South and in Edinburgh..... fine for a change. (This the city where I\'ve been blown off my feet twice!). Wee drop of snow Earlier, bit nippy, took the bus instead of walking.

Harrowing tale that. ;)

Ditto x2 :D It was raining AND windy here today, and I have 2 miles to cycle home. A few trees fell down, and I almost got blown in front of a car. And then I nearly got killed by my own dustbin when I got in :(

You guys think its weird there.. its frozen and snowing in California..a Billion dollars worth of cirtus alone is destroyed.

And we\'ve had temps in the mid-50s F for most of December and January and we\'re about 60\" behind our usual snowfall totals. Go figure ??? Ski resorts, snow mobile dealers, snow blower sellers, etc are all crying.

I work on the railway network in the signalling engineering department and the high winds have been causing some problems. Also driving out to one fault the amount of structural damage was quite amazing as well as the van we have a Ford Transit that itself was a struggle to keep in a straight line.

We\'ve had a couple of trees down, road closures and some cars smashed up by flying branches. Generally it\'s just a nuisance but at least its keeping the old folk off the streets for a bit lol

I remember the hurricane of \'87 (pipe and slippers time). I was living in Brighton then and slept through the whole thing. When I woke up and looked outside all the trees were uprooted, cars were crushed etc. We used to have proper winds back then...

Here in sunny Tumbridge wells I watched one of those pre-fabricated fence panels get picked up and frisbee\'d across the road last night..

Made a huge crash when it hit the side of a parked sainsburys lorry!
