It is when the piece is clearly one of the three or four best pieces on the site.
It\'s definitely one of the top five. Aw, hell yeah. For the reflection alone, nevermind the perfect blending and mood.
But if you believe snipers are the minority of voters, then the piece will move to its rightful spot eventually. Just give it time.
If it was at 9.9 at 80 votes, then it takes a 1 to bring it from 9.9 to 9.7 in a single vote. It takes twenty votes of 9.0\'s to bring a 9.9 to 9.7, so if the score drops that much so suddenly it\'s got to be due to votes of three or less. Those get wiped so we\'re told, so it should even out.
You just can\'t sit there watching your scores fluctuating and freak out with each drop. You\'ll drive yourself crazy. I mean, heck, I\'ve got a piece sitting at 6ish that was at 8ish earlier today (but of course only a handful of votes). Someone sniped it? By my calculations, yeah, they gave it a four -- but so what? It\'ll fix itself sooner or later. Different scale and number of votes with the maiden obviously, but it comes down to the same basic thing.
I\'m not trying to be contrary; I just don\'t understand the emotional tie to the score itself.
EricJ\'s maiden is freakin\' awesome. He has a thread full of respect and awe from some of the top painters on the site. That\'s worth way the hell more than the score as far as I\'m concerned.
Meanwhile, that score will gravitate to where it should be, and not a whole lot the snipers can do to stop it.
