I don\'t understand all of this ???
if the other GD\'s are anything like the one out here, it\'s pretty much run by a local clic and very fixed, and if you\'re not in their clic don\'t even bother showing up

@Sithtainius : are you more of a gamer or a painter? If you\'re a gamer, you\'re probably right. If you\'re a painter ... come to a european GD

.It would really suck if the cancelled the one here in Atlanta.
RedDawn and I were looking forward to hosting some of you here and having as many of you who wanted to come over to our house for a cookout.
I haven\'t mentioned this to RD yet, everyone cover your ears before the screaming begins...

Puuuuhleeeze....
As much as I hate to disagree with anyone here I really would hate to see some of the state GDs go away. You all talk about watered down entries, but if some newcomers had only two GDs to pick from - AND had to go against the likes of Jen Haley, etc. then why even bother? Some of the \"smaller\" GDs are a springboard to the \"bigger\" ones and build a painter\'s confidence.
Also, not everyone can afford to fly/drive to LA or Baltimore. Having a few more spread around gives more access to people. I would be surprised if they cancelled the Atlanta one - only because it\'s run by the guys in Memphis and Memphis isn\'t that far away from ATL. (And, it\'s more realistic to have it in Atlanta than Memphis - bigger town, bigger draw.)
Thuff - you need to talk to the guys at the shop and get the skinny on the GD dates - please....

Well of course dont stop painting something just cause you might think it won\'t be there..the event that is..plus Baltimore GD is useually in late may to late june..long time to save money to attend an event like that if its your only option.
I\'ll talk to the people at the Memphis bunker, but I doubt they will know. Most of the decisions are still made at the headquarters. Although they have a lot of locals working each of the events, there is a main group of people that travel to all of the US events.
If they cut it down, my opinion would be that they would keep Chicago because it gets the largest draw and then centralize one in the southern areas. I have heard some rumors of moving the Atlanta event to Memphis once the current contract with the venue expires, but again those are just rumors.
