Warmachines have better sculpts, and cheaper prices. Ef GW
so true, love their service, and most of their minis.hasslfree ftw!! better sculpts, service and prices
Not only many others are there, but with excellent sculpts, so yes, not that much to worry.Too many other manufacturers to even worry about what GW does.
with this I disagree a bit.Warmachines have better sculpts, and cheaper prices.
warmachine has horrible sculpts, hasselfree is cheap but the sculpts are at a very low level
Weird taste then, slagging off one of the best sculptors that work in the 30-ish mm size. Low level of skullz and spikes, maybe, but if you want elegance, crisp detail and a thorough understanding of anatomy then Hasslefree is high level indeed! I think the popularity of HF minis at various (non-GW) painting competitions and the number of companies that Kev White has done freelance work for speaks for itself.hasselfree is cheap, but the sculpts are at a very low level. again, this is personal taste.
James, you really need to make this an issue, talk to both local manager and insist on raising formal discussion/complaint with area manager. Hell, if he's been badmouthing you it could well be considered Slander. To go off topic slightly, I'm someone who normally defends GW to a fairly wide extent, but boy the staff in my local store have really screwed up.
I just found out one of them has been talking shit about me to customers because I buy multiple copies of things with the intention of selling them. One of those customers is friends with a workmate of mine and it got back to me.
So, yes I do, I paint models and sell them. I also am about to do this in a full time capacity (which the staff are aware of) so will be needing to purchase even more items. I go into this store and pretty much buy at least one of every single new release GW brings out, sometimes two or three. I bought a load of Dreadfleet and had two copies painted up in four or five days and I believe that purchase was what prompted them to diss me to other customers.
Now, I don't really care less what the staff at GW think of me, I'm grown up enough to not need their approval in any way..... this just ensured that rather than spend between £500 and £1,000 a month in their store, I'll never give them my custom again. Way to loose about £10k a year GW Friar Lane. Now I just need to decide if I only talk to the manager about it or go to the person in charge of Hobby Centres at HQ. Whoopsie!
I'd say you need to reconsider a lot of things, starting with GW's disproportionate anatomy on their sculpts.i really need to reconsider my view of hasselfree then, allways had an idea that they were lacking highly in anatomy, big titties and oversized forearms. i know i´m being controversial in what i´m saying, it´s just i have yet to see a hasselfree that "i dont think" doesnt look like a stuntie with a oversized sword^^ i could understand people who like hasselfree though, they have a lot of sculpts that are unique and easily useable in dioramas. but anyhow, i dont see the crisp details i´m afraid. i´m not saying i could do better, and i´m not bashing kev white, love the work he´s done for other companies, but have yet to see a single hasselfree mini i was excited to paint. wyrd and darksword have minis that are lightyears better when it comes to anatomy, according to me.

jeesus! pm sentpost a link to a in your view realistic hasselfree mini and i´ll give it some thought, looked through cmon shops hasselfree minis and i find nearly all of them very cartoony, with big hands, and lacking important anatomical detals such as knuckles, kneestructure and strong facial features.
sorry guys, but i still dont see it. qualitywise looks like something other companies did in the 90s, flat, round unrealistic faces and i can tell what tools were used. guess i´m silly=/ it´s wierd, since i´ve never really talked to anyone who doesnt like hasselfree. i see that they´re all going for realism and are contemporary, but i find them bulky!
i guess i´ll pick a few up and give them a proper shot, instead of hijacking your thread further^^ back to why gw sucks!
tired sigh ......... heads over to Freak Bar's CD lounge ..... when I first started this Hobby, there was "No" GW, so they didn''t do a thing for me XD
They are not perfect in proportion (not many miniatures are) and he's not the best face sculptor but pick one or two up and you'll see why people love painting them. I sure do.
