I didn\'t knew that someone voted down minis on this site. That\'s just wrong. The snipers are just jealous people that can\'t paint minis:D

Cheers

its a shame that the people responsible for building this website didn\'t think of sniping in the first place.

This site relies heavily on the rating system, in some respects a lot like ebay. But, unlike ebay voting is anonymous which stinks. Personally i would like to see votes logged against user accounts, and maybe even to paying subscribers only so that there is some accountability.

It wont help the current situation, and it would be a shame to lose such an amazing talent as Fredy who\'s work has been an inspiration to (im sure) many hundreds of CMONer\'s

Happens to everyone at some point. This is a flaw in the system but Cmon is still the best ranking system i\'ve come across considering the amount of members. I wouldn\'t worry about it. We have all had our \'kill the sniper\' rants at some point. ;)

If anything, threads like this would bring joy and happiness to the snipers....lets not give them the satisfaction....*ducks from incoming shot*

I honestly dont think Chern Ann created CMoN with the expectation of having such a pivotal role in our community, or such a large number of members!

HAIL CHERN ANN! Many thanks for being reponsable for making EVERYONE a better painter. I think getting sniped is a small price to pay for such wealth of information and inspiration.

*hears a sniper rocket coming my way* :)

The problem with this is that if your mini is not in the top 10 last 7 it usually takes a month to get 50 votes, even with active pimping. I think restricting voting to just registered and logged in members might be a good idea, although it would take longer to get the necessary 50 votes, but if you restricted it even more than that then noone would ever get up to 50 votes.

I disagree about the time it takes to get enough votes. The last addition to my gallery took exactly 3 days to get 50 votes, was not in the top 10, and I only posted a little link on the coolmini forums, and nowhere else.

about the snipers : I have been annoyed by them time and time again, but there is little to do about it :/ On the other hand, if you have people that envy your painting so much they want to spend time denoting the scores, you are bound to be a great painter.

Not so, if you knew that only registered members were the ones who could vote then you could simply remove the 50 vote restriction. It seems to me that the 50 vote average is only there because of the problem posed by anonymous voters.

Obviously having votes \'registered\' against a user account \'could\' be more disruptive with disgruntled artists questioning why someone would vote their mini down.

In addition i think i would like to see the 7-10 vote range expanded on a bit more. I see tons of minis on here that i would place between scores, for instance a 10 should be reserved for those minis that blow your mind. I \'might\' see a mini that was imho 9.5, but i would vote it 9 because it would be lacking something for the 10, unfairly marking the miniature down.

Ah, give it a rest! It\'s all a pile of bollocks really! Good/great painter, so what? Top rankings, so what? Get a beer and relax is my advice.

As a bloke looking over my shoulder just said, you probably need to get out more lol

No, the reason you need at least 50 votes before it \"counts\" is because different people give different scores and when a mini is at less than 50 votes the score it has isn\'t really reliable and can still change quite drastically (even without any sniping taking place).

This is probably good advice for 95% of us, but for the people who do this as a living it could be important. But is is important to find that balance.

The scoring system is fine the way it is in my opinion - I dont honestly think the amount of sniping that occurs here is enough to truly affect anyone\'s earnings, and that the exposure is well worth the risk. I am sure for the people in Fredy\'s league there are fanboys enough to cancel the snipers scoring anyhow ;)

And actually, voting \'big fat 1s\' on the minis has no effect at all on well scoring minis due to that mysterious algorithm thats in place. Everyones scores drop with time, so maybe its just the natural progression of things?

I rarely even get votes on my stuff... and when I do it tends to affect the score downwards lol

I\'m not terribly bothered by my scores anyway... but then I\'m not trying to sell my stuff or make any kind of income from painting... good job really, coz I rarely pick up a brush these days lol

I wouldn\'t worry about it Fredy... there\'s always gonna be anonymous little turds ready to throw a spanner in yer works :D

CMON wasn\'t designed to be used as an aggressive marketing tool by professional painters and companies, so it can\'t be criticised for \'hurting\' anyone\'s profits! Many of these people wouldn\'t be in business in the first place without Coolmini anyway.

If you\'ve got the cajones to put work up here, you\'ve got to have the balls to take the criticism of a few idiots and an odd hit from the shit-slinging chimps out there.....:flip:

First of all i would like to thank you for your time that you spent every single day do constantly vote down my top 10 minis by giving 5 to 10 times a big fat 1 per mini. It finally droped me down from the 4th place to the 13th place and there is no end in sight. I do not remember that i ever have attacked someone here on the site. I allways tried to answer all the PM`s and i never votet down the work of others. So please tell me why you hate me. I just want to know WHY! Post me a PM ( i promisse to not announce your name ), but i forgot you are a sniper and you are of course not brave enought for a outing. If you want me to delete all my pics - just tell me and post it open for everybody to discuss.
It is also very strange that this never happend to me for a period of 4 years. After my auction of Tyrion it starts - so tell me : is it greed maybe????

Cheers
Fredy

Fredy Forever !

Dear Fredy, you know I am your biggest fan. I adore your miniatures. Covet them. Don\'t forget that I am the unfortunate bidder who lost Tyrion to being snipped out in the final minutes and my LOSING bid was $2785 for the Tyrion as I recall. I regret losing the Tyrion, but you should take heart that someone wanted your art so desparately that they were willing to outbid the Queen of the collectors to obtain your art. I am sending you big hugs by cyberspace airmail to you in Austria. Please keep painting for us collectors who crave your art and unmatched talent. --Kathryn :)
