Right, so Ive started the Deathwing, and here is what Ive got so far, just after any ideas on it, in terms of make up etc.

Master, with power weapon and storm bolter.

Captain with lightning claws.

Terminator chaplain, the new one.

3 squads of assault marines, mixed weapons.

3 squads of terminators, healthy supply of chain fists, and a mix of heavy weapons, but taking the full amount.

4 dreadnoughts, huge mix of weapons

2 land raiders, 1 prometheus, and one crusader.

Pimping my post again, anyyyy ideas on deathwing, or has it been a \"been there, done that\" thing, and it doesnt work anymore?

I just have a thing for terminators, land raiders and dreadnoughts.

I will eventually work my way up to having a large scale dark angels force, Ive got a decent core of ravenwing to go with it, but there arent a lot of forge world toys for that at the moment.

Stu - yeah man, the moment those puppies came through the door any work I was meant to be doing for the day kind of stopped dead in its tracks.

My father(and boss) holds you entirely responsible lol

Jester - Yeah, I will build my up to having the full ravenwing accompaniment once Ive built that, but for the time being Im focusing on the deathwing, I had about 20 odd terminators around that didnt really have a home, and werent finished, but had been started as ultramarines, but I got sick of all the blue, so Ive blu tacked them together as they will be, and once my little pot (I use the term little lightly) gets here from liz, I have some major stripping work to get down to, then Im gonna be getting sick off bleached bone for a while.

Im kind of planning on doing something like a third of each of the first and second companies, and about half the third company, as a total force.

But I agree, suddenly having a large amount of deathwing turn up next to a large force of ravenwing in your deployment zone isnt a nice thing to have on turn two:D

Speaking of which, I should probably get round to getting that codex, Im going from memory so far, and Im getting far too old to be doing that all the time.lol

Just had a burst of inspiration, followed by a burst of perspiration, followed by some cursing, then I found him.

The new Marneus Calgar in terminator armour, who just became my new chapter master, Ive got my thoughts together on what Im gonna do with him, but I have some questions to do with arming him.

I remember ages ago, there was an article in WD about making your own chapter master etc,and arming and pointing them up, but is there anything these days?

... I think he meant the one that\'s a couple years old now, the one one we\'ve seen painted oh so many times on Coolmini already :) I\'ve got one too, and some day plan to Dark Angel him up, but that\'s not gonna happen any time soon!

There\'s a rather fine Marneus Calgar conversion done by one Thomas Schadle on his website here. I\'m not keen on the big billboard strapped to his back but I can\'t fault the rest of it.

Don\'t forget that you can mix and match your weapons in a DW squad so whilst chain fists and stormbolters are all very well a trooper armed with a cyclone and thunder hammer beats them hands down:D

Also, having a load of terminators turn up in your deployment zone on turn two is not a nice thing as you say but using the deathwing deployment rules and the RW bikers ability to scout you can deepstrike your termies within heavy flamer range on turn one. Brown trousers time for any armylol

Woohoo I just noticed that this is my 100th post :drunk::drunk::drunk:

I had actually forgotten about that beastie thing, yeah, Im not all that keen on the forge world icon turned into a banner, like you say, looks too much like a giant shoot me billboard.

I was going to do something much on the same lines, but I did have a question about being able to arm guys up extra to the codex rules, as in, can I keep the armament that marneus has (yeah dan, its the old one, Im just so far behind living in france its not funny), or am I gonna have to grind the bolters off, which would leave more room for other stuff.

That being said, Im not all that sure on the rules for mixing weapons up (still havent got that codex)

I know you can mix assault and standard terminators together, but I didnt know about equipping assault terminators with things like cyclones.

Scout bike sqauds werent something I had thought of, but I guess one or two wouldnt go amiss if it means Im in range with big guys in turn one.

Nah mate Dark Angels don\'t get to have scout bikers anymore. The normal Ravenwing bikes and attack bikes have the scout special rule so you can do it with them.

A cyclone can be added to any terminator trooper in addition to his normal weapons. As you can have him armed with any weapon set he could have either a chain/power fist and stormbolter, a pair of lightning claws or a thunder hammer and stormshield in addition to the cyclone. How about sticking magnets in the tops of the armour underneath the plastic so you can have the option of moving it round the squad?

A DW master can have either a pair of LC or a th&ss combo or a SB and the sword of silence. Purely on the strength of the fluff I\'d take the latter option but if you want to keep the original fists go with LC.

Yeah, I might do that, just slap some claws on top of the end of the fists, I kind of like the detail on these ones, little bit different and all that.

But I dont like the length of the standard lightning claws, and Im all outta the sergeant longer ones.

I kind of need to get myself some plastic card really, anyone know of a company who ship it around.

The nearest shop to me is an hour and a half away, and I dont have a car of my own at the moment.

Or the codex.

Im not so sure I like the idea of having a cyclone launcher on a guy armed up for close combat, I tend to throw the assault guys forward, and use the others in a medium range stand off kind of thing, so it doesnt look right to me to be having a mix, plus in close combat he cant use it.

But what I plan to do, as and when I get some plastic card, Im gonna use some of the thin stuff and do whats shown on the assault terminator in the space marine codex, the bolted rims on his armour, just to spice up the squad, and make them a little different again in armour from the terminators.

And magnets is something Im doing with my dreadnoughts, Ive worked out I need 8 weapons to arm them up, and I have 14 to choose from, but with the standard plastic one, the arms can just slip over the round piece of his shoulder joint, as it was, but I havent had a look at forge world dreadnoughts, and see if they are compatible with this idea yet.

Right, a few images of what Ive got together so far, youll have to imagine its in focus, my camera still being stood isnt working very well, or at all really.

The land raider with the deck plate missing, third from the left, is becoming a prometheus, once I get those bits through.

They are laid out as they will be on the field, assaults with the land raiders, apart from the guys in the crusader, for some high shot close up support.

Just got the new dark angels venerable dreadnought through the door, and got him put together, and first impressions are the same as what they were when I first saw the pics of him,:eek::eek::eek::eek:

He is a little smaller than the standard plastic one though, but I think that could be because my plastic one is currently held together with blu tac, awaiting an arrival of my lethal parcel of highly explosive cleaning fluid from my mini terrorist cell mate liz. (and soon to be future hussy bit on the side mistresslol)

Just one thing I see a big problem with. Your list has four dreadnoughts! you can only have a maximum of three elite choices! four is just not possible.

Yeah, but only if you fight under a standard army list, also, Im now up to 6 land raiders, and theres no way even I can squeeze that many into a standard list.

But the other thing is the amount of points its gonna take to field all that, against something like a guard army, hes gonna max out his slot allocations well before I do, so this would be a special large battle.

Manus, Im not really aiming at a set number of points, I like to do things so that I have enough to take whatever I feel like taking on any given day, and going from there.

Also, I already had 4 land raiders before I started planning this list, along with 30 terminatros, so I was well over everything to begin with, but once I got a a few dark angels bits, and then saw the new forge world dreadnought, it kind of sealed the deal for me, and stripping blue commenced.

And if anyone has one of those metal GW venerable dreadnoughts going cheap, no matter on paint job or anything, I might be interested.

Havent got one of those, but they kind of dont sit anywhere in line with the other ones, at least forge worlds ones you can see a natural progression of some sort, especially considering the MKIV is a pre heresy dread, and the MKV, or GW plastic is the next in line, I dont really see where that metal one comes in, its not a MKVI, and I doubt it would be a MKIII, it looks too big.

I don\'t know of a single force organisation chart that allows more than three elite choices. the only way you could manage this is to have two separate detachments. And then only one of them could take terminators as troop choices as you cannot have two Master Belials as he is a special character and has to be used as is.

No, if you play an army of, say 10 000 points, at least with the guys Ive played with lately, we just double the number of available slots, and theres no need to take an extra commander or anything.

So it fits.

That, and if I want to mix and match things like the landraiders, or dreadnoughts I use, I can.
