Lol Grots! My brother and I primed and painted 90 Grots in one night for a tourney the next day. They came out looking like...well...Grots. Needless to say I got no praise or points for best painted army. Hahaha. I love how yours came out Demi and am looking forward to seeing it with the kan.

Wife and baby's are at her folks house for a couple of nights! Even though I am darn tired from trying to get through the chore list I still have tons of time for minis! Here is the KO'ed dread base painted:

I have fallen back in love with metallics.

Here is the base with the grot and the wire from a couple of angles:

I do need to paint the wire but that purple is really working for me.

Thanks Guys! So I lost the neat purple. I guess I could go back in and try and work it into a highlight but that sounds really hard :)

Below is the first pass at photos. I think I want to go back and give that first shot a couple of different angles and maybe a better angle on the grot. And play with the white balance [groan] teh last pic has auto WB and looks a little better right? Although it also shows all the colors on the piece. I might try taking some shots at different f-stops too. I usally take pictures at 16 or 18 to get every thing in focus but on this guy it makes it look a little flat.

I need you guys to put on your big shiny criticism helmets and let me know what I can do to improve on this guy. I won't post to the gallery until the end of the month so let me know what it needs! I'll get you started: Grass? More bubbly rust? More red? More blue? Better definition between zones? Bat wings?

Crystals??? Big Blue crystals???

That osl is really nice. The whole piece just plain works, some water fx on the mud, maybe a little mud on the grot (less is more) to tie him into everything else. Top notch!

Ack, here is a quick progress shot on the Termies. I am having more fun than I thought I would on these guys. Tried to get shading then highlighting then freehand in the shots below.

I was getting bogged down on the freehand so I did skull decals on 2 of the targets I ended up painting on top of that. The decals got me going again. The sarge came out pretty good, I think. If you do decals get some Microsol!

Washed the termie helmets with art ink and matte medium. It was just the ticket. Not as clean as it could be but I can't be troubled to do 4 identical really nice helmets. I would rather spend my energy on the sarge.

neat stuff, lovin the freehand, got to practice some of that. If they look this good in the pics they must look great in hand. I like your edge highlighting nice and delecate but pronounced. the work on the face looks good so far.

thanks canny just got the little one to go to sleep. typing one handed. hows your new baby?

got a pretty good painting sess in today despite short notice in-law visit but then caught flak for not being quick enough to the newborn when he was crying :/

what do you think about the edge highlighting on the lighter portions? should i do more? and how do i show 'power' fists? i am kind of thinking about adding orange or green to the edge 'lights on the fists

These look good but having the same problem as me with the camera. Can't really tell the details but from the full pic I would say to finish first the edge highlights and then add if necessary the power fists. It might just happen that you'll find it's too much.
