I got it all together! Photos tonight and off to the 5th dimension blog. I think I am going to have to find some more astronauts to paint some day

I waited up all night for your promised photos. It's 2am, have to be up at 4am. No pics, as promised. Very disappointed in you, Ben...

Very cool stuff! This piece has transformed into something very different from where it started (well, at least from what I was picturing when you started) and it just keeps getting better and better. I'm really excited to see how all the parts come together.

Ditto. You really have a "Thing" horror vibe in space going.

You actually did. You set out to show the world alien fart bubbles and delivered with style. Looks great man.

I am still scratching my head how the insanity of replies actually tied into the current look of the minis.

BFoK I was up late too trying to get these sent over. Good thing Skelletetts is an early riser

You can see the Easter-egg hacksaw in the last pic. I think my photography is actually getting better (!, of course these will probably get "6" in the gallery now) but these were pretty minimally processed and relatively painless to take. What do you think?

Im confused at why the one suit is all black. Don't get me wrong I like it all as it is and think its all worthy of a 10 but that's all that is throwing me.

That's an awesome little diorama, the tiny base really adds to the sense of weightlessness.
And +1 for the presentation card, that's hilarious.

[EDIT] Ah, it just dawned on me, the Alien Fart Bubble is is mimicking the monkey in space. :laugh:

Yep! I have been reading Alistair Reynolds' "Revelation Space", series. It has something called the "Melding Plague" in it where grey goo takes over all the advanced technology and shambles around mimicing stuff sort of. They are great books. Sort of picking up where Ian Banks left off. I guess must have been in the back of my head for this.

I am on it already. I sent that over with the contest entry I thought I would save something for the gallery photo when I put it up.

Well worth all the deliberation, just want to see it irl (and that crackin' visor)... i can add fear of fart bubbles to my phobia list, what shall i call that? one thing you could try to get all the pic in focus is step further back, for screen image you dont need to fill the camera pic so keep the subject about 1/3 of the pic space then crop after. alternatively use a fast/high f stop.

That is really very pretty indeed. If you liked Ian M Banks try some of Peter F Hamiltons work (if you haven't already). The Commonwealth saga and Void trilogy are absolutely quality

But why not an 11? I do have some advice about composition that may help to push this into epic level-if it's not there ready!!!

I am struggling to see what the dark Astralien is doing. Or why he is so close to the human. I'm sure your close ups will fix this, but I have a quick solution. Since this is outer space, why not take advantage of the zero gravity. Put the antagonist on the bottom or side of the floating rock. It'll help to show that they are, indeed, in such am environment, as well as fix what I see as a bit of a confused scene. What do ya think ?
