So damn good my friend. I am very impressed. You surely deserve a perfect ten here

But why not an 11? I do have some advice about composition that may help to push this into epic level-if it's not there ready!!!

I am struggling to see what the dark Astralien is doing. Or why he is so close to the human. I'm sure your close ups will fix this, but I have a quick solution. Since this is outer space, why not take advantage of the zero gravity. Put the antagonist on the bottom or side of the floating rock. It'll help to show that they are, indeed, in such am environment, as well as fix what I see as a bit of a confused scene. What do ya think ?

I wanted to do that but compromised with what I have. Partially because I am so used to painting with zenithal lighting.

Because the scene is in space you can move the light to where ever you want, but I wasn't sure people would get that. Theoretically you can put this hole scene on it's side and it should work just fine because the light source doesn't have to be from above. I wasn't sure if people would see that though and i wasn't sure could make them.

I actually tried to paint the KO'ed guy upside down. I had him mounted on my dolly with a pin coming out of the top and it was much harder than I thought it would be. I kept getting confused with shadow placement even after I had airbrushed them in. So I re painted him semi normal.

Once I got the figures and monsters basically assembled I worked on placing them. I originally had the monster and the KO'ed guy switched but the cable interfered with the arm reaching for the hacksaw. Then I wanted the monster to be high and the Ko'ed guy low, but that needed the monster to have a super long stalk. By then I didn't have time to figure out a way to make that look good...etc..

So it's a compromise. It did work out that it was easy to photo with the scene tightly grouped like this. I do see a lot of dio's where there is way too much space between the figures. Another thing I thought about was having everything mounted to a wall or back drop, but that would have been a whole 'nother can o' worms.

Maybe when we get our Space Marine boarding party group project going we can have them all floating off the side of a giant space ship and the base will mount on a wall :)

Ahh, I see. Well, it sounds like you gave it the old college try, as they say. Still incredibly done.

Just a quick word about your light source. You cannot, in fact, make the light come from any direction. The reflection clearly shows the sun is above (Or below) the astronaut.

Right, exactly! but I can move him around or whatever.

Ben, I am a member too. But being a member and being able to do anything are completely different birds, unfortunately. I thinks it's something like you must have 5 projects that get at least ten votes each (at this point you get a medal based on a score avaerage of those votes) in order to be able to vote yourself. I submitted my dark elf two weeks ago and I have 3 votes (and tbh those are probly just people that know me like Andy, Bailey, TenBall or Skel). I would equate getting 10 votes to having a 9+ on CMON. Right now you have 7 views of the fart bubble with 1 vote. Statistically that is good, and if you keep that up you will "medal." I honestly think the reflection on that helmet is going to take you far. It's that unique little piece that gets attention and spurs the votes sometimes. You should be proud, because there is nothing fantastic about those sculpts to get an extra push. Basically, the standard model astronauts aren't helping you. It's all skill. Skill, vision, and creativity.

i like the system because it ensures you're a good artist with a wide body of work. Which basically means if you are a member you are a good artist, but if you have enough projects medal and you can vote yourself, then you are truly amount the top probably 300 mini artists in the world.

I say all of this because I wish I could vote for you. I will follow and favorite you though!!!

I'm sure it do fine I heard that you have to be invited to vote and I would love to but how would I do it if I don't have any access bud. Lemme know what I have to do and it's as good as done bud. It's a really great piece.

I saw a rather familiar looking piece in the big box on the front page of Putty & Paint. Congrats on making the editor's choice list! And on your first submission over there. Very impressive!

They like me! They really like me!

I'm floored! It's got me really pumped to paint more! I have to say, I was not convinced about P&P at first, but it is so cool to look over there and know my score isn't ever going to go down.

And, Dynis is holding at an 8. That makes me very happy. If you recall, I had based Dynis off of some art I found on the web. I sent the original artist a link and he was really happy about her. He said he painted minis as youngster as well. Pretty frickin' cool. I am going to try and work out some sort of an art trade.

Bailey, and everyone, thanks for your help on my projects. I'll try not to forget you when I am a rich and famous mini painter! :)

Your enthusiasm is contagious, was gonna say 'jammy sod' but u made it happen with solid hard work. I reckon the artist will need to be sending money your way in a trade deal :)
