Thanks guys! Do feel like a bit of a "Jammy Sod" I think the audience was ripe for astronauts. Take note sculptors!

Here are some shots of the mini I am working on right now. Not a big project but just something to paint on.

I love the Infinity minis, but they are so small and their armor has so many weird layers I always get lost painting them. Like this lady has skin, under wear pants, shin guards, boots, a chest guard with shoulder pads, a sweater, gloves and a watch. So I am really sticking to the box art to try to get a feel for how everythign goes together.

It's pretty funny that on the box art the artist have penciled in lines that aren't sculpted to make sense of some stuff. Like the seam is sculpted on the front of the leggings but not on the back. The box artist also did some interesting stuff with shading. Like shading his browns and greens with red. Not sure if the purple gun is working for me though...

Fill in the rest and then decide on the purple. You could give it some green glazes in the shadows to tie it to the hair or the other way around. I almost bought operation ice storm just for the minis and skirmish type starter set. Then i remembered I'm not a gamer anymore. ~whew~ Now if you'll excuse me they are releasing Space Hulk again so I'll be buying another to paint up and convert as Deathwing - but i'm not a gamer, I swear.

Getting a little more work done on my infinity ladies:

I actually really softened her face on this one following along with this really great article:

http://chestofcolors.com/how-to-paint-faces/

Of course the pict's looks pretty harsh:

I have a her twin too, so i thought I might as well paint her. Started on some brown skin:

And in a moment of perfect clarity the planets aligned and i nailed the catch light on her eye:

I think that's the smallest I have painted so far:

I am at one with the 000. Windsor and Newton are my homies. :D

I think the brown skin tone is coming along nicely. It's my first go at a more African flesh pallet. Any pointers, or insights?

The faces are looking great especially considering how small they are. The dark skin tone looks good, just remember to highlight a little further than you would with a fair skin tone as darker skin reflects more light

These minis look very difficult to paint. They don't give you many facial features to work with, huh? There's some cheekbone, but no help with the eye socket, eyelids, forehead , etc. I don't envy you this paint job. I think you may need an intermediate tone to ease the highlight a bit on the dark skin. Also, I'm sure it's there but it's very vague : a shadow. I know that tough though because you can't go pure black. You need a darker brown and your mid is already very dark. Never tried dark skin though so tell us all what you learn from it. BtW, I think DR did a good tutorial on dark skin somewhere.

Yeah, nice job with those eyes! I don't think even I'd try that at 28mm scale. Sounds like you're having some fun with colors on these two. I look forward to seeing how it all turns out.

Nice job on the dark skin! I'm digging the contrast with the bubblegum hair, too. For whatever reason, the shading on her face makes it look a lot softer than the paler gal. As for shading, something that's worked for me in the past is, rather than adding black or yet another shade of dark brown, mixing in a bit of deep violet in with your base brown. Makes the shadow cooler without sacrificing vibrancy.

Thanks Sionid. I am trying to get familiar with my purples on these two paint jobs. I think of violet and purple as colors in the same group although magenta is a little confusing. I guess I could read more color theory stuff, but actually using teh colors seems liek it is time better spent :) Gonna try and knock out the first Infinity Lady before the weekend. Should have a pic up today or tomorrow.

In other news, I put Alien Fart Bubbles in the CMON Gallery. I need your vote!

Thanks for the votes!

Here is an update on the first Infinity Lady:

View attachment 31169

I stuck with the purple-ish color for the gun (Reaper Brick Red), gave it a wash with a very dark brown (Reaper Walnut Brown) and then highlighted with the same greys I am using on the armor. It came out darn good, I think. I used to get really frustrated painting guns and swords. They were never straight enough for me. Now I just, try to paint my lines straight even if the guns lines are little warped.

I have also been working some subtle changes on her face and added a tiny bit of battle damage. I think she is just about finished.

What do you think?
