nice, is that the beginning of sennm on the blade there?

Not sure yet. That's what I was thinking at first but maybe like translucent crystal? I am trying to get it to set off his skin tones. Its quite a bit more blue in real life. Ice Blade?

If you went Ice for the blade you could make the general theme ice. 'The Ice Trolls Emmisary '
loos the green for blue and set the cold feel across the three figures.

Thanks guys. I did some more work on the Kobold and am trying to figure out the next step for his fur. I think I am going to grey it up and maybe even try to add a little texture like a dry brush type thing and then go back and make warm brown shadows. He's got like half fur, half scales, Maybe I should paint them as distinct parts. Like green scales with white fur? The stripes look amazing in real life...stupid camera...

And that's the base I have so far.

Ooh, you're working on a bunch of neat minis right now. +1 to what Zab said about the tunic, what a cute little dude *.*

Thanks all. So I wasn't too happy on the Kobolds skin/fur. I tried to pick out the fur from the skin with paint but it didn't wasn't amazing so I thought I would try to actually add some fur. I happened to have some static grass that was just the right color. Carefully applied to his mustache goatee and ears and here is what I came up with:

They got a little mushed on his goatee when i trimmed them, but I think the overall effect is a good one. Do you think i should do more or just leave it as it is?

I wouldn't add more, I think you found the right amount of it, since it increases the feeling of a furry thing now... I think that adding more will ruin the effect because more hairs "won't let you see the forest"
There is so much effort on this one that you are getting the miniature to almost cute! ^^

Thanks guys! The ol' shrink ray seems like it's working pretty good :)

Now I am on to the next guy in the vignette. Struggling but I think I am in the home stretch, or at least have figured out all the colors. I had his sword magical blue bu tit was too much. I will come back in and glaze in some blue and maybe some red when I have worked everything else out. I would also like to tune the free hand on the back of his cloak a bit more and maybe figure out a tattoo.

Oakleaf is pretty much done. I see a spot I need to fix on his right fore arm. His skin is pretty red, and that is what I wanted, do you guys think I should do even more red? The blue on the stones and spear is subtle is it too subtle? How about the gem on his belt? Should I make that a bit brighter and more blue or saturated? The gem on the belt is fighting with my satin varnish right now so some matte varnish should make it read a little better.

Thoughts? Impressions? Should I glue static grass into his armpit?

Great work on the kobold, adding the static grass was an excellent idea. As for Oakleaf I think he looks good as he is but really it's your decision. In my opinion you've got the balance of colours just right
