Thanks guys! Here are some shots of the latest commission. They turned out nice, great quality sculpts. These are the resin Guild Ball figs Hunter crew. One thing I did notice though, is the texture left over from the 3d printer. I think you can remove it with an acetone wash, but I didn't even notice it until way too late also might want to let someone else do the acetone testing first :).

These are pretty true to the concept art but given my withers I might have given them some safety orange color splashes. The other thing I would have done different, that I should have done, is to work some blue into the greys, especially in the NMM and then put some more blue in the snow. Missed opportunity there.

the muted snow and earthy tones suite the minis. feels like the pre spring grey thaw. What you learned can be applied to further commissions :)

I would be proud of playing with these! ^^ Love the muted greens and the little fiery girl looks menacing amongst the greens ;)

Always great to see a group of very different miniatures painted in a way that pulls them all together. You did a great job there. It sets a wonderful mood.

So damn good Ben. One very happy customer I presume ?

Yep! he's sending me more work, I hope I haven't set his expectations too high :) . This squad does make it easy. All the figures mesh really nicely without being monotonous.

I have got some paint on my Aragorn figure. He is sculpted after the movies but I think I am going to paint him with some more green. In the films he is mostly brown and black with a grey/green cloak. I think I am going to paint him with a brighter cloak and maybe work some free-hand onto it. Maybe something like the trees in this illustration:

Here's where I am at with the paint:

Here is a pic of Viggo's movie costume:

And another costume reference not sure where this is from but I think it is supposed to be Aragorn:

Okay, what do you Tolkien experts think?

I am curious to see what you do for the trees but so far I think you got a solid start, then again your Demi and your stuff is always great.

I always envisioned him in greens when I read the books but it was a long time ago, something like gw wood elves colour scheme

Aragon is looking great already; I'm curious to see him finnished. BTW, what's the scale and brand of this figure (I'm new to everything fantasy/SF)Cheers,

Thanks guys! Gino, it's a 54mm figure from Andrea called "The untamed". It's a pretty nice figure with a really nicely sculpted face but the eyes aren't the best. They are sculpted with little needle holes on each side to make them a little pouchy. It works okay, but not nearly as nice as eyes on some other 28mm figures that I have seen.

I like the figure and the green color scheme, but I'd slant more toward the blue end of things and less toward the yellow. I might save the yellow/orange warm palette for the leathers and other details.

Bloody excellent thus far!! I thought the painted model was a pic of the actor in costume then I realized its a paintjob by Ben Snyder !!! Nuff said on that note!!!
