Having received a few discontinued GW paint pots from a friend (cool old hex pots.) I was curious if there are colors out there that people really like but can no longer buy?

The washes were nice, I thought. Flesh wash especially. However I think Coat d\'arms sells the same paint as GW sold.. so you can get a hold of it. I\'m thinking of ordering some actually! :)

Didnt\' you get a yellowy kind of tint with your flesh wash?

Brown wash smelled like it looked :p, but was really useful.

Yeah.. but I never used it for flesh! lol
Hum ... intriguing. And what did you use it for then? If it\'s anything else than wood, this might be the greatest revelation of all times ... or not :p. [edit]after rereading, I thought it would be useful to precise that my statement wasn\'t meant to sound sarcastic[/edit]

Ghostley Grey, I love that colour and was able to get a couple of pots from a friend, it makes a fantastic base colour for reds and also white.

I miss beaten copper :/ I used for all of my armours in a dark elven army but I can\'t continue the colour scheme because I have run out of paint :) I\'ll try and find out if coat d\'arms has the same colour in their range.

I used to use the old green and brown inks a lot. The ones from before the hexagonal pots. These were round pots with black caps. I think I still have some of it left, but I don\'t use it much anymore. Also, hobgoblin orange was a nice colour. I used it much for painting red hair.

Aren\'t flesh wash and Brown ink being sold any more?? I bought a flesh wash from my local GW yesterday....???
As for my favourite one, I liked pallid flesh alot, and leprous brown for yellow.

They have changed the recipe! Green ink is also available (I think) but it\'s a completely different tone.

the best paint used to be the oldest Shining Gold in the circular pot with a white top. Oh how I miss my wonderful paint, the Coat D\'arms paint doesn\'t quite match up.

@ tidoco: OK, I understand Ghostly grey as a base for white (loved that one), but for red?!?!
You do mean as a second basecoat over black, right? RIGHT??
Tee hee, I still got a pot of Green Ink, use it for a final glaze on Orc Skin... New Dark Green Ink is fine for \"quick\" orc skin, just slap onto white basecoat, drybrush goblin green... not that I would do such a thing.
Well, I miss beaten copper (not that I did much with it), and pallid flesh, too... painting elves will never be the same... :(

Firedragon Crimson. Also Bilious Green.

Hah, and Nipple Pink, at least the name. They still make it, I think, but it\'s called Tentacle Pink.

I\'d say \"old GW red ink\" but the GW Magenta looks just like the old GW red ink.

The Coat D\'Arms stuff is identical to the very early Citadel stuff Leo! I bought a few pots last week, and I much prefer their inks I have to say. Some of their lighter colours were not so good over darker colours, but they certainly have a pleasing consistency.

Coat D\'Arms brown and green inks are the bollocks!

If ever there was a shade between Codex Grey and black, I have missed it. I\'ve had to mix my own whenever I need a dark steel grey.

I found quite by mistake that using Ghostley Grey instead of White as a basecoat gave a much more solid red when painting some Blood Angel Space Marines for my son, I applied Red Gore over the basecoat and then mixed up through to Blood Red and got a very solid red.
Here is on of his Angels I did for him,

Bear in mind that this was painted for gaming with for a 13 year old lad and not intended to be a display piece but the quality of coverage was achieved over a Ghostley Grey Basecoat.

Salamander Black springs to mind. But it\'s been forever since I\'ve seen a pot of it. Although I do feel like it has been so long that I may have just made it up!!
