Discribe your dream mini line ( game or collectable )

Ok I know that just about everyone has their own idea of the perfect game right? I am not starting this thread to rob or expose the ideas that we horde and guard with all our might so no worries there.

What I would like to discuss is what it is, to you, that would make the absolute perfect miniature game line.

SCALE ;

For me I think I am really partial to the larger minis. Those of 55 to 75 mm scale. To me the smaller minis, while they have the great strength of being able to display large numbers in a limited space without crowding, the details are often lax or so finite that they are nigh imperceptible or too minscule to really notice. I REALLY enjoy seeing the work of the artists who sculpt and paint these little treasures, at least here at this site where the image is far larger than the mini actually is.

Personally I feel that with the larger scale there is greater room for detail and realism. Actually even stylization would look better if the minis were somewhat larger in my opinion.

I understand war gaming neccessitates a degree of scale restriction so that IS a very big strong point for small scale minis. And with the long running standard of 25 mm it is hard to just start up a new collection of larger peices when all your gaming ( war or adventure party ) has been done in a smaller scale for ages.

THEME ;

FANTASY all the way for me. I have just never found sci fi to be that compelling compared to fantasy. Sure both have their ristrictions but fantasy just has so much more romance to it IMO.

However there is a literal SEA of untapped theme variants in fantasy gaming and such. Most of the time we see nothing but Euro-centric culture thematics with a bare hand full of asian or middle eastern tid bits thrown in for good measure.

What about Native American, African, South American, Mauri, Southeastern Asiatic, Egyptian, CHinese, or Japanese cultural thematics. Or hell get really creative an dblend a few together for something really unique.

That is about all I can think of at the moment but I will post more as soon as it comes to me. I look forward to reading yours.

my dream line would be based off a rpg vid game ive been developing for about 6 years on and off now with hundreds of characters and it will start to rise sometime in 2004-5 after i get out a few other games.

id say for scale id dig about 55mm for the average human exactly. at 1st i kinda was thinking 60-70mm but this would have more minis and more going on slightly more than inquisitor so even though it would be bargain basement prices people would want to pick up more minis so id like to be semi size concious for price at about 5 bucks a pop.

huge fantasy theme not only covering armies but the main focus would be somewhat inquisitor on a fantasy scale so most models would be single models that just look creative and fun not as part of a themed army. for the game, including mostly enemies and creatures and dozens of good guys id say im at about 600 soemthing now so the line would reflect that hopefully with maybe 5-10 minis a month for a million years.

for the game id really like a dm with a cooperative play with two more people who play thier parties and you have fun on kinda a medium scale 10-20 good guys with the dm playing the bad guys or scenarios etc. lots of towns and making stuff and possibly doing business because this would emulate like it would be in the video game.

on the side id like to see a scifi game that rivals 40k so thats something id interject maybe before a fantasy game. ive toyed with that idea video game wise and come up with a few looks somewhat akin to soul saga the comic a little and made a few characters etc but nothing super concrete in terms of development yet.

Me like small things.

I\'ve really only used minis for RPG stuff, so larger would probably be nicer, but back in my day 28mm was about all there was for fantasy. Actually, come to think of it there wasn\'t even 28mm. It was 25mm back then.

For wargames I prefer counters.

For my own sense of aesthetics, me like small stuff. That\'s why I just did
Epic Space Hulk

So I guess my dream line would be 3mm with good detail! It is a dream after all.

:flip:how many minis can you fit on the head of a pin:flip:

I wish someone like the Rackham guys or Gael or SJB or another highly talented sculptor would make a steampunk Victorian-era line, with guns, magic, long dresses with frills, kewl hats, classy overcoats, and a damn lot of style. 28 or 54 mm for me, thank you. And I\'ll have french fries and a Coke with that.

Those Rackham guys come pretty close, but since I\'m into doing Dioramas (for myself mostly) I\'d like to see a variety of different times and places to the same standard. I\'d also like to onvert more, so the minis would have to be a bit more multi-parted, because I\'m not crazy enough to buy a $8 Rackham fig and just cut off the head and use it.. In that regard, I\'d like to do my own but practice comes first.... :p

Personally, I would love to see someone do a Science Fiction Line of miniatures somwhat akin to what Reaper does with their Dark Haven and/or Warlord Lines.

I would like to see a miniature line in the same scale as Confrontation based on White Wolf\'s World of Darkness (especially Werewolf the Apocalypse/ changing breeds) so a werewolf in Crinos would look like the Rackham wolfen, but you\'d also have other changing breeds Bastet (werecats), Gurahl (werebears), Ratkin (wererats), Mokole (werealligators), Corax(wereravens), Nuwisha (werecoyotes) etc. plus lots of antagonists from Pentex/ the Wyrm, Vampires, Mages etc.

I\'d like the shapechangers to have a variety of figures in all different forms. I know there were some made once but they were all too small for my tastes. Also, sculpted so that you can distinguish between the different tribes and auspices and with their spiritual abilities showing through on the sculpts of some of them (using gifts, sculpts of totems, in the Umbra etc). :D

At the moment Rackham is the closest to my dream miniatures line.

Regards

Kat
