\'Eavy Metal trainee figure painters

Same here. Wife, kid, mortgage, big car.......figure painting has changed a bit and yes the advert does say \'painters\'. it isn\'t academy style though, its a 12 month training program within Eavy Metal with the aim of becoming an established figure painter.

Have been offered years ago to apply by GW themselves as an illustrator and or a mini painter in 1995 and 96 after gaining a couple of Demons, but i was already in a job and they could not offer me the same salary, you have to work for GW for the privalege and experience not for a salary. But if you have no mortgage etc live with parents and no relationship.. then go for it.

To work in the studio as a painter was always a dream, of mine but I think now it is a dream that I have to let go as real life would prevent me from seriously considering it.

don\'t misunderstand me. I would love to earn a living painting miniatures and pictures, it was just not a viable option then.

Edit: I\'d go for it, but I doubt I\'m good enough, and almost none of my painted figures are GW. I suspect they\'ll be looking for total fans.

I always thought about that but then again... Painting Miniatures all day long, even if I don´t feel like... would turn my hobby into a job... It´s like doing commission work all day long...
On the other hand you get a really great training... I think it´s sure to say that within 3 weeks you may be able to paint up to a standard similar to the Eavy Metal Team Painters...
I will tell some friends of mine, though... and Nottingham + the People at the studios are really, really great... I enjoyed visiting it in 2006 a lot......

I do have a question, how does the training work? Do you paint the models that end up in the book while still getting better, or do you spend a year getting taught and then get to paint models for the books/boxes etc.
I\'m still ruled out due to not being good enough but I thought it might be a useful thing to know.

All joking aside it sounds like an amazing opportunity for a person to improve their skills and get their foot in the door with an amazing company. GW has a reputation of promoting from withing, look how many of your HM staff have become top designers now.
