Wow someone with kids and a wife is seriously going for a job that\'s only requirement is \"you show an interest in the hobby\" why don\'t you take some responsibility and get a job that will not only pay the mortgage (yes mortgage not rent or council rent) but will also offer some progression and a level of pride from your family. Dear god no wonder the world is falling apart if people with kids think that \"miniature painter\" is a satisfactory job.

If you want to be an artist go open a gallery and stop trying to take a short cut.

not sure if this is sarcasm or not but...

while i think eavy metal is kinda a waste of time and extremely limited i wouldnt even come close to saying anything like that

im not even sure what made you want to say that

to judge people by what job they choose(or end up with) is hardly realistic

well i cant speak for the others but i have a wife, kid and a real mortgage, love my job, have a great deal of respect from friends, familly and strangers too. i dont want to be an artist i just do what i enjoy everyday of the week, and thats painting figures and getting paid to do it. its a real job with real prospects and i wouldn\'t change it for the world :)

Maybe because they love their jobs and would rather be happy than do somthing they hate for more money. What where you hoping to acheive with that post other than to offend many of the people who have posted on this thread?

EDIT: the post above pretty much shows everything you have assumed is incorrect. He supports his family, has a morgage and has a job he loves, you cant really get more successfull than that in my opinion.

I\'m going to desperately hope that the comment you made is tongue in cheek, as that came across as staggeringly insulting to me, let alone the \'eavy metal painters.

I believe that jobs come in all different shapes and sizes. Some pay well, some don\'t, but quite honestly if you\'re someone who\'s lucky enough to find his dream job and it pays the bills, I cannot see any reason to criticize (plenty of reasons to be jealous I guess ;) ).

I\'m...vaguely disappointed really.

This isn\'t really a short cut since you\'re starting at trainee level, and tbh i think it takes someone of strong passion to be able to make a living from something they enjoy as a hobby.

There are lots of considerations to look at before you even contemplate applying buts its not for everyone, but there is no need to insult people because you disagree. I think its an awesome chance for someone to pursue their dreams

Are you having some sort of sick joke?

Since when has it been wrong to make a profession out of a hobby or something you take extreme interest in?

People can make a living of painting mini\'s, and the eavy metal is a viable career option. As Fil shows he has a wife, child and pays his mortgage, he pays his taxes and insurance which is better than what many do.

Saying painting mini\'s isn\'t a profession is like saying being a sports person or musician isn\'t, they are hobbies or interests.

Why not try keeping your uninformed opinions to yourself, if you provide for your family then more than likely you will have the respect from your family and friends and then if you have a job you enjoy more than likely you will be the envy of many people. As for the world falling apart i would hardly say its due to people wanting to be a figure painter.

I also think that post was very uncalled for and shows a great lack of thought as well as a lack of respect to what other people do for a living.
We all have a laugh and a joke but to come out of the blue with something like that just isn\'t called for.
I think the guys and girls of the heavy metal team as has been said by themselves and others do the job for the pleasure that they get from the hobby, remember most of them had successful little selling jobs before they joined the team so I really can\'t understand why you have said what you have.

I do think you should apologies and retract you post though before sombody has a serious word with your attitude problem.

I think that the majority of people having read your post aren\'t impressed with it.
If you are wondering why, it is because it is dismissive and insulting to people on the \'Eavy Metal team and the prospective applicants.

I don\'t think I need to say anymore; others have been quite forthright in their opinions.

Considering the amount of free minis, I think a lot of CMONers would actually be richer in the \'Eavy Metal team than in their current jobs lol

Good luck to all the applicants! I can think of a couple of people who\'d suit the job really well.

I also have a wife and 2 kids, safe to say that they are very proud of me. They could have someone who comes home from a job he hates and takes it out on them....not me!
To Multifracture- just had a quick look at your gallery.....guess you wont be going for the job yourself. :moon::D
