ELdar Phantom Titan

I was almost sure that i had this project in a thread here but i didnt find it, guess it was one of those days:drunk:

I dont usually make a Project log when im sculpting or painting my tyranids
or other projects but this time everything is quite different.

I have accepted, last year, my most challenging commission work so far,
a very old and hard to get Armourcast Eldar Phantom Titan,
one of the biggest fellas i have ever seen (about 36cm tall) and my job
is to cover him by sculpting details on it since he is
a bit lacking on that area.

One of the main problems is that he is so huge im going
to spend GS like crazy on this, also the resin is full of
big bubbles holes so the cleaning alone will take lots of time.
but im quite exited with this crazy project, it will be a slow project
due to its gigantic dimensions and hard one to pull off right
but i will have lots of fun doing it.

time for pics...
By the end of january of 2007 i received this
boxer8.jpg

titaninboxsf8.jpg

opened it and displayed on the floor ( note that the grey dot near
his head is a genestealer miniature and he is there for scale perspective)

and finnaly a sketch i did for one of the shoulder pads

I also been sculpting this for some time and finnished both
shoulder pads and torso.

Here we go, just took some wip pictures of torso and shoulder pads, as far as im concerned torso and shoulders are finished but still im waiting for clients feedback, crossing fingers hoping he likes this.

here i just did a quick draw of the concept for titans back fins...

a small update to get you guys know whats happening to titan.

Both back fins are 90% sculpted i only need to add hundreds of spikes to the vines on both ( these spikes alone are giving me nightmares they are just soooo many so tiny)

in fact i was taking some shots of my workplace and you can check out one of the fins wip there...

i have done a concept sketch for arms (simple stuff) and before i showed client for aproval i sculpted them when spikes were curing
I just hope he likes them, its really simple stuff... my idea is not to make lots of details on ALL parts, this way mini more interesting and no so busy and boring.

i hope to take official pics soon when all done with spikes, lets just hope i dont go nuts doing them...

Ok, that things looking pretty epic.

Make sure the client takes pics of the finished thing if you arent painting it.

The size is just amazing, and the amount of time and dedication this is taking is equally so.

You need beer.

whats not to like...... if your client has problems then claim artistic liberties and keep it yourself. its beautifully done. great work.....i intend to watch this with interest.

that is simply stunning work... I love the vines and the way you have made it all tumble and flow. Very organic and I really can\'t wait to see the final result.

I wonder if we\'ll see it painted?

I saw this on Warseer... and was amazed... now I am re-looking at it here... and I am still amazed...

Your sculpting is amazing (but you know this already) and this project is getting along amazingly.

Can\'t wait to see more pics.

cheers

P.S. re-reading my post I found there is a lot of \"amazement\" on my part... couldn\'t you a syninome.. noooo!!! that is what you get when you are speachless...

That is an inspiring and very cleverly worked out theme to the titan.
I do hope that you client is as suitably impressed as the rest of us.

:eek::eek::eek:

Wow! I mean WOW.
The only problem that I have, and I think that I figgered it out, is what is the blob on the right shoulder? I\'m guessing that it is a heart (shaped box, sorry couldn\'t resist). It\'s hard to tell from the angel of the picture. But wow, this is what I\'m trying to do on a Waithlord (the GS vines mit roses, and getting pissed doing it), and here you are pulling it off most excellently. Keep it up!

why the heads on the shoulder? trophies? They look like eldar?

Sorry, but I don\'t follow the fluff and it looks like he has trophies of his own army.

forgive me for bringing any negativity to this but the only thing i can see bringing this down is the staticness of the old armourcast pose, but man ohhhhh man i want those shoulder pads.
:D
i must agree the helmets on the shoulder pad could be defined more but they look great and if painted right it will look good

Maybe hes parked up to take a piss?

But yeah, the only thing I can see that I would work on a touch more, would be the sharpness of the helmets on the pad.

They cant be trophies anyway, look at the scale of them.

So many questions i dont know were to start, lets hope i cover them all. :D

This is still a wip work and things that will change are:

-Still need to sculp details on legs and head and legs will be repositioned to make mini more dinamic... a big display base will help to make model more balanced.

- Big heart on shoulder pad was declined by client and i will have to resculpt a biel tan logo inside it.

- heads on shoulder pads represent old heros and titan pilots and its a tribute to the old champs, client aproved sculpt so i will not work more on them... after finishing them i agree with you guys, now i think i can do a much better job.

-yes i need more:drunk::drunk: lots of it in order to keep this huge titan on a steady pace.

- display base alone will be a huge job

- so far client aproved wip picture of the back fin but i still ned to add tons of spikes to both of them.

i think that covers all question one thing for sure after this big fella i need some vacations:D

I think you\'re \"client\" needs to go and brush up on his fluff then....most of the biel tan stuff i\'ve seen has hearts worked into them......man this things amazing judging by the pics so far!! Hope you dont have to rework too much of it as i think it\'s a fantastic piece.....
