Eragon [spoilers revealed!]

I have to chime in with another resounding four thumbs down on this one -- the second set of thumbs coming from my wife.

We\'re both big fans of the books and have been enjoying the audio books before bed -- we were so excited to hear that a movie was coming.

After \"Lord of the Rings\" expectations for book adaptations were raised considerably. Most of the movie houses have managed this fairly well. Eragon...

We were really disappointed.

The movie went too quickly, with too little character development. You have no reason to care that Brom died. None.

There are a lot of little plot changes -- but that\'s to be expected in a movie. But without character development you have no reason to engage.

They don\'t even give you much reason to care about Eragon!

Below tabletop for me

I have to give this piece of crap a 3.5 out of 10.

I haven\'t read the books (and don\'t tell me to in order to enjoy the movie either) and I won\'t.

The casting and scripting was brutal. Jeremy Irons actually played the BEST human part in my opinion out of the lot. The rest were terrible. The lines were terrible, the plot was terrible and overall, apart from some cool effects, the entire movie was terrible. The script was almost infantile in it\'s simplicity.

That\'s just my opinion. Definately glad I didn\'t pay money at the theatre or renting. I would hate to give the people who produced this movie one cent.

Haven\'t seen it, but just seeing the cardboard stand-up of the female lead in a store window convinced me not to see it.
The costuming reaked from what I have seen.

It was a knee-jerk stereotyped reaction to seeing LOTR making it big.

I would rather watch my own arse ring in the mirror than watch this avatar of crap fantasy shite.

I did write what was supposed to be a brief accosting of the movie as a rather lengthy and humorous review on my BLOG
There are spoilers of course, but then like I say at the start... If you\'ve seen Star Wars, I\'m not spoiling much :)

She didn\'t really have feathers just plated scales on her wings. They resemble feathers but truely aren\'t. She , I think, was slightly based off of one of those dinosaurs, not velocorapters, but the ones they believe to be like great great great great great great great great great great ansesters of the chicken you know? ???

Now that I think of it though they made Saphira a chicken! lol

Jake

archaeopterix. a feather is essentially a modified scale (made out of the same stuff, similar developmental control mechanisms etc - a feather is an evolutionary derivitive of the anceant scale, this is called an \"apomorphy\")

the movie sucked, but the fireballs were sweet.

Nothing can suck even near as much as \"Ghostrider\", that movie was so totally crap that it wasn´t even funny any more.

personally I had quite big hopes on that movie, and I got a liitle bit let down. I think it was more a movie of effects than an actul story, of coarse there was a story, but the effects did the most in it, and the dragon was extremely well done. I would give the movie a 7/10 aswell

Agreed. I also liked that conjured demon bat thing that Durza (the Shade) was riding. Of course none of that happened in the book, but it was nice eye candy.

It wasn\'t that bad, of course it wasn\'t fantastic or anything. But it is aimed at younger people. I thought it was a good time filler, i would watch it again, but i don\'t WANT to watch it again.
