What paints have you used? What methods? Give us some information, or we can\'t help you! It\'s like asking \"My car doesn\'t work! Why?\"...

When you say chalky do you mean that the surface is grainy and not smooth or do you mean that the blends are looking uneven and not smooth?

Either one of the paints you\'ve used is bad, or you\'ve put on too much paint. Paint needs to be thinned but also applied in thin layers. If you put on too thick layers it doesn\'t matter how much you\'ve thinned the paint... it can still go grainy.

Another thing that just struck me is that you might have applied a new layer when the previous wasn\'t fully dry. This can cause the previous layer to become messy and grainy.

You\'re welcome! :) But, once it\'s gone grainy there\'s no good way of getting it smooth again, I\'m afraid... Either strip the mini or live with it. You could try to strip only the face by applying the stripping chemical onto the face with an old brush, but it will be very easy to ruin the whole mini still. As it\'s a metal mini you can use acetone which will remove the paint very quickly.

No, undercoating again will only build up more paint on the already grainy surface... It might soften the surface a bit, but it won\'t get smooth again.
