Help i am currently painting hasslefree Dione i am quite pleased with the face, BUT its hard to explain looks kinda chalky not smooth, why, how, help please have painted catsuit and nice and smooth
I havent got a car!! sorry have been using GW flesh colours Dwarf flesh through to Elf flesh + bleached bone using really thin layers with a final layer of red and dwarf flesh for cheeks lots of thin layers. Have used same method on clothes and they fine. Thanks for any help:beer:
Either one of the paints you\'ve used is bad, or you\'ve put on too much paint. Paint needs to be thinned but also applied in thin layers. If you put on too thick layers it doesn\'t matter how much you\'ve thinned the paint... it can still go grainy.
Another thing that just struck me is that you might have applied a new layer when the previous wasn\'t fully dry. This can cause the previous layer to become messy and grainy.
Thanks ever so much mate reckon it was putting one layer on an already wet one as such a small area, the clothing larger so would have had time to dry u a star!! any rescue remedys or shall i paint white and start area again?
You\'re welcome! But, once it\'s gone grainy there\'s no good way of getting it smooth again, I\'m afraid... Either strip the mini or live with it. You could try to strip only the face by applying the stripping chemical onto the face with an old brush, but it will be very easy to ruin the whole mini still. As it\'s a metal mini you can use acetone which will remove the paint very quickly.
if i undercoat again would that work my last mini still swimming in nail polish remover and really like the clothing on this one thanks as ever for your help a newbie saviour !
No, undercoating again will only build up more paint on the already grainy surface... It might soften the surface a bit, but it won\'t get smooth again.
