in leicester we have gary lineker, engelbert humpedink (if thats how you spell it) the band kasabian and the attenboroughs. anyone you know of, bill?

Muzzy Izzet lol I think you listed all the most prominent ones, except perhaps the Manhunt murderer, and maybe the National Space Centre could count as a resident. And it is spelt Engelbert Humperdinck. Yeah. Leicester rocks :rolleyes:

I still think Bolton is most famous for being mentioned in a Monty Python sketch though. (Cheese shop sketch IIRC)

The town I grew up in (Oklahoma City) was the home of Country Music legends Garth Brooks and Clint Black, and the one-hit-wonders Color Me Bad (\"I Just Want to Sex You Up\") who I went to highschool with - even had biology class with one of them.

God! I loved her and Renaissance. I have Prologue, Ashes are Burning , and Scheherazade and Other Stories all on vinyl. Also saw them live at a festival once with the rather strange lineup of Steeler\'s Wheel, Renaissance, and King Crimson.

Anyways, the one most famous person from North Syracuse is Richard Gere [shudder] who was an arrogant, self-centered bastard even way back then, though his sister and I were friends.

Oh, and @minimaker - IS there a topice we haven\'t done before??? :D

There\'s a great story about that in Njal\'s saga. The berserker is charging through the various rings of fire that have been consecrated to pagan gods but when he gets to the ring of fire consecrated to the Christian god he burns up!
