Wasn\'t Waco the town that was Famous for the
Branch Davidian?
Anyhow, the town I grew up in (Port Jefferson) had only one famous occupent while I was there, and that was Steven Crowley. I tried to find ANY reference to him on the internet but there was none. He was the VERY FIRST casualty in our ongoing conflict with Iran, and he was the one and only U.S. marine to stand his ground when our embassy was taken by Iranian militants that began
the Iranian Hostage Crisis The rest of marines surrendered, and the embasy was taken, but he was the only one to do his duty. Today no one remembers him, but in that litlle town there is a park named after him, with a flag and monument that bear his name.
I remember it because for one week our town was filled with reporters and there was a parade with his casket, and for a very brief time we all thought we were part of something important. He has been dead 27 years, and the men he served with are all still alive with families and probably grandchildren of their own.
So, is that what being \"the good soldier\" gets you? ???
