I have made a Print N Play expansion module for Arcadia Quest. Check it out in the Arcadia Quest files section on Boardgamegeek.com and let me know what you think about it. I'd love to hear feedback from fellow AQ fans.

Monsters for Hire (v. 1.0)

The Monsters of Arcadia are tired of standing around. Pay them to take out your enemies or just get in their way. Monsters are now for Hire!

Rules:

1. Once per turn, you may purchase a single contract from the Contracts deck for two gold. The gold may be paid from coins owned by your guild or from Discovery tokens found. If using a discovery token, the token is discarded and the money applied to the contract. Coins in excess of the contract price are lost.

2. Your guild may only ever hold one contract. You may discard your contract at any time.

3. At the end of your turn after activating your hero (or heroes), but before the start of the next player’s turn, you may use your contract as stated on that card. The contract is then discarded.

4. A single monster cannot be activated more than once when using a contract.

5. If a monster kills one or more heroes from a contract, the kill is considered in all ways to be a monster kill. All other guilds receive 1 gold coin and no quest awards are granted.

6. (*Added) Monsters will not attack other monsters when using a contract. However, should you choose, you may target your own heroes with a monster contract.

Interresting concept, but my initial thought was that it would cause a hefty dose of imbalance, based on what cards you draw.
I might be wrong though. guess the only way to know is to try it.

One problem though... What about monsters in scenarios where the monsters drawn aren't present? Are the cards ignored? Or do you go through the deck in advance, removing cards that won't apply?

The wording on the cards is tied to minor and major minions, and melee and ranged attacks. minion, melee minion, and ranged minion. For the base game, all non-villian characters are minions. There are situations where a ranged or melee minion will be LESS valuable, but not invalid. For these reasons, It may be better for me in version 1.1 to state the hierarchy as minor minion, minion, monster. (weakest-mid-strongest). The pictures are just to add something visually though I am not a practiced artist to add dynamic pictures/backgrounds.
