I use the Game colors mostly, with a few of the model colors thrown in to get some more natural tons.

The paint quality is just way better the the citidel paints.

I use primarily everything Vallejo.. I stil have my Citadel paint but their on the road to the grave, and all I really use is the inks because the glazes of Valejo are too thick.

Paints

Hey Edomingox, I paint with Ral Partha, Reaper, GW & Vallejo (model/game color) paints. In my opinion all of these paints are of high quality and great to work with. However, due to the fact that Vallejo paints come in those handy dropper bottles I plan on eventually only using Vallejo (model/gc) paints.

Vallejo

ya. I use vallejo mainly cuz the droppers but also cuz they apply much better than citadels (i used to use) when thinned.

After all these things I hear about Vallego being better then Citedal I am on my way to try them out, but right now it is Citedal.

Whats the main difference between Vallego Game/Model paints, just colors or does one cover better then the other?

vallejo model and game

the difference is that game color was made for fantasy figures. model color was made for the military figures like the vinyl ones. mainly cuz the colors are more drab. game colors are more vibrant. i hear that game mixes with citadels but model colors dont mix with citadels. i generally stick to one type but i do have some model colors cuz they got some neat mixes that are not available in game color.

I mostly use Vallejo Model colors, although I throw some Delta Ceramcoat in there, I think somtimes, just out of sheer cussedness. :D:cool::p

The game colors are named and colored specifically to match GW paints. ;) (goblin green, for example)

Chaps, I\'m using Coat d\'Arms...

COAT D\'ARMS are what I\'m using, their Fantasy range to be precise. Of course, many will remember that the supplier of Coat d\'Arms also used to supply GW their Citadel paints before they went their own way, so some of the older painters may well find these right up their street. I enjoy them, though I\'m having to re-adjust to painting with a new colour-range.

I supplement these Coat d\'Arms paints with Miniature Paints, a very good paint made over the border in England. they have a range of top-notch blues as well as some unusual/rare colours that are a bugger to mix.

I LOVE MY PAINTS. :duh:

Marvellous chaps, I\'m off to water my Geraniums.

Rev :innocent:

Vallejo all the way..

I am using Model Colour cos I got into Vallejo paints before the release of Game Colour but I am starting to add Game Colour to my colection. Once the old GW stuff is used up, they\'re history! Damn those screw tops!

Citadel are perfectly fine - I\'m enjoying them immensely. I like the smooth plasticy way they dry. It makes blending in the next color much easier.

Oh, and I\'ve never had any problem mixing Citadel into Vallejo Model color. Actually or any acrylic with any other . . unless was partially dried up and had granuals in it or something . . .

I also use a lot of Vallejos - a quick count shows 53 bottles on my paint caddy - 3 are finishes and one is the famed \"Smoke\" stain.

For those people whose sole problem with Citadel is that they hate the jars, may I recommend:

RobogripII Ridgid - This is a fantastic set of pliers I got at Home Depot. It\'s self adjusting so you dont have to reset it to whatever paint jar you are trying to open.
It breezily opens any jar totally negating the dried paint in the seams problem.

Some of you are saying: why should I have to buy pliers to open a paint jar?? I agree you shouldn\'t have to.
Buy the RobogripII Ridgid is a great household tool as well. In the home, I use it far less frequently than a drill or hammer or a screwdriver but for troublesome paint jars it\'s perfect!

Vallejo usually... Model Color, for same reason as Finn. Also, Miniature paints, like Rev.... good strong colour and very reasonable price.. I have one or two pots of Citadel but I can never get the damn tops off!!

started using vallejo lately and love it. can\'t afford to replace all my gw ones though and i\'m loathe to just chuck them out. some of them are ok but i just like the richness of the pigment in the vallejo colours.

A hybrid...

I mostly use Vallejo model colours (cos I got a ton of it! :( ) but once the Vallejo game colours are out, I am buying more into it as model colours have too wide a range (but useful). Citadel are going out for me. The container sucks although I have no complain about the paint quality. But certain ranges of Citadel paint are virtually useless (eg. Red Gore).

As for washes, like Chripsy, I use Citadel.

I own a few Coat D\'Arms but they are virtually impossible to get in my country. Extinction. And mail ordering for paint is just too expensive considering the cost of postage.

I love the Vallejo\'s because they have great bottles, and great paint.

I have a lot of GW left, so I\'ll keep using that till its is gone.

I buy alot of the \"cheapo\" paints. Plaid, Apple Barrel, Ceramacoat, usually for larger projects such as terrain.

I want to try the Reaper \"pro-paints\", but haven\'t had a chance. I read on the Reaper website that each bottle comes with a \"severed head\" as an agitator!
How cool is that?

I use what I can buy, which means some Vallejo, some Citadel, some Delta, some Howard Hughes (only union blue these days) and some Apple Barrel.
I find that since I bought the Vallejo basic set I use it most often just because it\'s so darn easy in those bottles. However, I\'m placing an order from Western Plastics for dropper bottles to transfer my other paints so they will all be just as easy. If anyone wants to jump in on the order let me know.

hmmmm Vallejo is the best so far in terms of ease of twistin off the cap and droppin out of the bottle... and the smoothness of paint.....

I really cant stand the citadel bottles... I threw one at a wall one and didnt even get close to openin it.....:p

I have tried GW, Armory and Vallejo and found :
* GW good but expensive and with unbearable bottles
* Armory just as good, better bottles and cheap (maybe that\'s why they went down)
* Vallejo perfect
