First miniature you remember buying...

Well, the first \"mini\" (not typical car, tank, helicopter or battle barge type of war model) was a Dragonlance box set with Huma the silver dragon and the guy who loved/rode (no pun here!) her with the lance. This was in 1993 give or take a year or two.

I think that was the dragons name? I still have the thing in its box somewhere, just can\'t find it ATM. I never read the books, something about a dragon who fell in love in human form but had to go back to being a dragon to kick some butt or something.

My first minis were from Grenadier at the time I lived in Hull and the only place wgere you could by any sort of Fantasy minis be it citadel or anything else was Kingston Galleries they had one of those racks that you can turn 360 degrees to look at all the blisters on there, they had quite a few Citadel blisters as well as Grenadier but somehow the Grenadier ones just seemed to attract me more so I bought the mounted paladin and then after that I bought one or two more Grenadier packs before finally taking the plunge and buying a few of the Old citadel C series minis.

I\'m not sure which one of these I actually had first, but the first three I recall having were Ral Partha\'s \"Superhero\" (which was Frazetta\'s Death Dealer), a knight with a bull on his shield from Superior, and a mounted knight with a flail that I don\'t recall who made. The store I went to then had all the miniatures unpackaged and on a shelf so you could see them better, but you didn\'t always know what company they were from.

I remember painting them very badly with Humbrol Enamels, and then later, when I got my first acrylic paints (also Humbrol, I think they were called Humbrol Fantasy or something like that) I repainted them. I don\'t have them anymore.

I keep seeing this tread appear, and have now worked out what I first bought.

In a GW sale a metal human bloodbowl team in 1993

but then i did the kid thing and built and painted airfix planes vehicles and troops in the 70\'s

I bought a bunch of 1/35 Tamiya World war two soldiers when I was in about 6th grade.

The first metal miniatures were a boxed set by Ral Partha called Runequest: The Creatures of Golgotha. Had a very cool two headed vicious snail, and a walktapus....

It was VERY well endowed.

RE: Huma and the Dragon - Huma is the name of the night riding the Dragon. The Dragon\'s name I don\'t remember.

I still have this mini. Haven\'t painted him yet. You are right, the sculpter must have had some extra GS around that day.

I just had a flashback too. I remember the first minis I bought. It was the Heroes for Dungeonquest boxed set for the old GW boardgame Dungeonquest. It came with metal minis for all the characters. I painted them with paint markers (oh boy are they horrible).

Here\'s a pic from boardgamegeek (not mine)

Shortly after that I bought a blister of two metal Necron warriors (I thought they were cool because they looked like the Terminator) lol. Then I got the 3rd edition 40k starter, and things just spiraled out of control shortly after that! lol

Here\'s photos for your enjoyment! I think I posted these before in the first-mini thread:

I did the same thing with the first minis I painted. Meaning I left some parts unpainted so the plastic was showing.

The first miniature (a box full of them) I bought is a boxed set of official Dungeons & Dragons \"Dungeon Monsters\" from Citadel Miniatures.

Here\'s link\'s to some pics on the web:
BOX
MINIATURES

I painted them quite awful a lot of years ago and recently stripped them blank.

I have two of this boxes, bought in the same shop, but it\'s a shame I never have found the BDD1 D&D Adventurers Starter Pack!

Oddly enough, I remeber to have bought these boxes not in my small city, but in the city where my grandparents lived, in a shop now (sadly) closed.
