First Warhammer mini done... at least I think he is...

Well, my buddy twisted my arm into playing Warhammer. by twisting my arm I mean he bought me an old pack of night goblins so I'd start an army to set against his. I've got all 20 almost base coated, so I decided to finish one off to see how they were really progressing.
Here he is.

Firstly, welcome to the site - and welcome to this fun, mad, kinda-hard-to-explain-to-others hobby of ours. I'm new to this whole thing too (and am here manly for painting rather than playing) but it's starting to take on a bit of a grip over my life, so have fun and be warned!

some comments from me in your painting - take with a massive pinch of salt because I have painted exactly three minis so far:

the darkness on him makes sense if he's a night goblin. But for tabletop it's worth boosting the contrast so your figures don't get 'lost'. Maybe a brighter green, and some brighter highlights in the clothing.

Your base coats look really nice and smooth, and the washing he crevices is well controlled.

I I see a bit of red on the hood: it's worth upping that or using it elsewhere, so red can be a kind of 'clan colour' marking out your team from others. It helps to distinguish who your team is.

There are some great painters here on CMON, and I am sure they can add more comments. Other than that: welcome aboard.

Tank for the feedback. I have strayed pretty far from the higher contrast from what I see in most war hammer painting somewhat on purpose. I'm trying to keep a more 'gritty' looking group of Orcs and Goblins.

The red is the theme color I chose for this crew of night goblins. I also wanted sullied looking robes. In hindsight I can see how the bloodied look in the creases takes away from the contrast. But he is the first guy, so I'm happy just to be learning. Also, although the pictures don't show it well, the right side of his hood and face do have a blood splatter effect. I considered not doing the blood effect, seeing I'm a rookie and did have a lot of hours into this one guy, but I figured everyone has to start somewhere.

I'm planning on continuing the rest of these night goblins in a similar fashion, but I do have a boss who I have started to base coat already. I will definitely apply a higher contrast on my bosses. I don't mind if the minions do get a little lost as long as the bosses stand out. The leader I've chosen for this clan, ( my night goblins of the blood moon as I've designated them) is the night goblin boss with great axe and trophy rack.

Thanks so much for the feedback. I'm In this for the painting more than the playing myself. I've been overly impressed with the amount of support that is out there for this hobby. I did not really do this guy alone. I had so much help in form of blog posts, on this site and others, and of course YouTube.
