Fixing up old games.

For Necromunda I've found the thing is the ladders. Making the scenery connected, and on the multiple levels. Scratching together one ladder for one bit of terrain is easy/cheap enough, but enough for a whole table can be a bugger.
Can find the old plastic bulkheads on E-bay - silly money for the most part, but there's the occasional sensibly priced bundle.
Another alternative is going all in on some existing scenery, like the stuff coming with the Deadzone kickstarter or the GOT stuff from Antenocitis. It's tricky getting a unified feel with bits from here and there. Although Necromunda can be quite forgiving in that regard,

Nah, going to make this as cheap as possible. The original terrain, and miniatures are silly expensive, and doesn't look very good.

Final hero choices:

Mages:
Funny thing here is that the cat stole the male mage's hand.. And I can't find it again. Probably under the heavy couch somewhere. *sigh* SABOTAGE!

Dwarves:
Was very happy to find a good looking female dwarf. :)

Elves:
Just wish I could actually paint.. Maybe the male elf would not look like he fell in a mud pit..

Barbarians:
AKA Conan and Red Sonja. :p

On a side note, it seems like the Fimir I ordered from Forgeworld has been lost in the mail.. Not paying another 300 coins for new set, so I might have to greenstuff, and mod, the old mini's with the spare parts of the Savage Orks.

Here is a poor guy with no hands:

If your FW fimir are definitely lost in the mail, try mailing or phoning them. They're usually pretty good at sorting stuff like that out.
The old minis are very cool in a retro kinda way, but 30quid is 30 quid. I reckon you should be able to get your goods :)

I've sent them a mail, today, waiting for the reply. Hope it will fix itself of course. Especially since I got the wrong zombies from CMON, too. And I had to pay three times the cost in order to send them back. Got to love this country.. :)

Anyway, here is the first Fimir. With a bit more interesting equipment. And hands. :p

Hi J, I'm enjoying your work. It seems to me that you and I are of a similar Gaming Age, I got into this hobby through Hero Quest and Space Crusade, and Necromunda in my latter teenage years. I'm getting all nostalgic for home-made terrain constructed of ice-cream and yoghurt tubs...Carry on!

First Escher done. This model was really nice, very detailed, but of also very difficult to paint (25mm from foot to eye) for someone at my skill level. :/

Looks pretty good. The only thing i can suggest is that the hair looks one dimensional, unlike the rest where you have used more shadows And highlights to add depth.

That might very well be. :) It's amazing what some paint and grain will do to make some random trash look like it belongs in an apocalypse. :p

Yes, I have trouble wih blonde hair. I've used two shades of yellow and a wash of brown. Should maybe go over one more time with almost white drybrush.. But then again, I am a very bad painter, and you know what they say about old dogs and new tricks..

Good news, my Fimir was found, and shipped by express ups straight to my door, for no extra fee. That is good service from Forgeworld.

The same can not be said for CMON, as I still don't know what is happening with my zombies. Nor do I know if I get a refund for the postage which I had to pay in order to return the product they sent in error.
They just don't respond to my e-mails anymore. :(

Can't let that stop the progress, though.

I could not decide on how to paint them, so I did half and half. :p

Here are the final goblins:
