Foliage for bases

I tried doing a quick search, but I am having a hard time finding out where to get some foliage goodies for my bases. I feel my basing work is letting down my painting work, and I would like to get my bases on the same level.

Your garden mate, that is where you will find some realy cool basing products (very brittle though.)

I stopped using natural products such as weeds as the do degrade over time even if sealed and painted.

the leaves on the third pic are a usefull natural product that doesn't degrade (as the sellars of it bake it to preserve it) just use some thin material to act as vines and then attach the leaves. There are more realistic leaves on the market than birch seeds but they cost a packet (for the weight they are more expensive than gold!)

The greenery in the second picture looks like individual tufts pulled from moss. I've seen sheets of the dried moss for sale in the flower section of Joann's and Hobby Lobby. I also know someone who's found it wild and let it dry out to use in a similar way. For actual flowers, the best place I've found to buy really tiny ones is Michael's. Bring a mini with you, they'll always look smaller in the store than next to a mini. Mini gyp is one species, but there are others. Once you have a selection of wild flowers and other foliage type things, you can glue them together to create different things. I've glued leaves on to the stem of one type to make something that looks like a rose, cut tiny bud/leaves off to make smaller leaves than the birch seed pods for smaller scale minis, wound thread around a small bunch of the flowers to make a bouquet and a few other things. They usually take paint decently so you can customize the flowers to your colour scheme and make them look more in scale. They are a little more fragile than artificial products, though, I've had some break on me over the years. Best put up next to or under a rock outcropping or other fairly protected areas of the mini.
