I would have been tempted to paint the metals as chipped paint as opposed to bare metal (rusted). I think that would keep with the faded glory theme.

That\'s just me...

i think it needs a few more highlights on the normal skin (not face) and that snotling on his hat does also seem a bit flat. Otherwise excelllent job.

btw, this is just an idea, but how about using another base, theatre like, so as in he is sort of an actor. Not sure why but just don\'t see him on a mechanic base with weathering. He\'s the kind of guy that would change his armor after every battle.

just my thoughts on this beautiful mini :D

I had thought about chipped \'Ivory white\' like a glove. Or Ivory/black chequer board in an old school ork style, it would be a good counter point to the renaisance dress.

Some sort of free hand would make it zing (a bit more!).

Dunno, but the base looks good.

Could you show this to someone that does not know the idea behind the white face and see if they \"get it\" I love it but not sure it comes across like that.

Otherwise you\'ve outdone yourself! Fantastic!

Agreed, it\'s a concern I also have. Without another greenskin or two (You could make a diorama, I think you\'ve been known to do that, right?) there\'s the lack of context and it might not make immediate sense.

You know I love it, but I\'ve seen this since it was just a green greenskin waiting for green paint. Think of the awesomeness of adding a small retinue of followers to make extra sure people realize your fantastic and original take (I don\'t think I\'ve heard of anyone taking the Louis XIV style treatment to an Ork before!) on a true ork nob.

If someone looks at it and doesn\'t get it y\'know they\'re gonna slap their heads and say \"Of course!\" once you tell them, but a Games Day judge (Have you considered taking him to Games Day? I think you should.....) might miss it immediately and I would cry sobbing 3-year-old-girl-with-a-skinned-knee tears if this doesn\'t hit WD and show off to the GW reading public how original an idea you can pull off whilst still keeping it in the context of the GW universe.

Fancy orks...... BRILLIANT!!!

Y\'should take it to games day.

Damn you for not making some extra casts to sell. I want one! Great painting by the way. It is an excellent concept and I think the white face works very well with that colonial look. If I did not know any better I would say that you were inspired by Pirates of the Carribean.

thanks for all the feedback guys.iv done the power fist in a very pale yellow and started a bad moon freehand on it all chipped so a bit tricky.@avelorn and scott i agree that some ppl wont get the concept and the idea of a squad is something im really considering.i wouldnt do a diorama as such but would set base that told a story a throne with some grotz danggling from it.an old possibly dead boy covered in cobwebbs.the young shiny upstart after his throne maybe a grot carying a cake stand theres a ton of scope to play with. im starting to think this thread may continue for a while lol

it looks brillaint, what putty do you use?
i have to say i think putting some showing through green patchs on the face would make it make sense instantly

right i think its finished!!!!(holds breath for approval) i just dont think i could do much else with it? in the end i went with an old school bad moon face on the fist painted in a paler yellow than the shoulder pads as i reckon its older.im not going to paint any darker green on the face iv thought about it n think id hate to do it n regret it.@hestan it was sculpted with green stuff mate and jolly good fun it was too!lol

Aw, it\'s lovely! Now could you please hurry up, finish the base and take a nifty picture so I can give it a huge score!

Love it to bits - fantastically original take. Do you think an Ork Dandy is really \'Dorky\'?

Excellent piece!
Still think the powdered face may get lost in translation to anyone not familiar with your concept and should have perhaps a few areas with the green skin showing through where powder wore/rubbed off.

You should enter it at GD this year.

Would love to have a copy to add to my collection if you had cast it up!

Regards

Neil

great job, I got the white face immediately. If they dont get it with the wig and all initailly it wouldnt be long before most figure it out.

Awsome job!
